My largest to date (18"): I am finding alternating above (trout) and below (pikeminnow) the dam to be quite enjoyable. In truth, the Pikeminnows are more "fun" at this point because I can get them to hit just about anything I throw at them I broke in my new fly rod set up; 8'6" St Cl...
Finally made it out to the Yuba to experience those hard fightin' rainbows that I'm always reading about. We hit the water with Ryan Johnston and let me say what an awesome dude, phenomenal guide, hard working and VERY patient. Thanks to Emerger and MX19 for the recommendation! Those fish were unb...
So last week I was able to sneak away for a little fishing. What I didn't realize was I was going to come home a week later with one less friend. My old girl, Brown and a little banged up would not be making another trip for the rest of her life. It's crazy to think how many trips and fish we had seen together...
Hi board members, I'm a recent transplant from WA and was thinking of planning a quick day trip to putah with my significant other. I've fly fished as a kid and have not done so in years so there are some things lacking in my fishing knowledge. I have in my arsenal a 5 wt rod, some attractors, nymphs, and dry...
I will be going to the yuba tomorrow on 9/27. Ill be getting there dark and early. Been doing very well and figured I would post to see if anyone would like to join me. If so give me a call and we can figure out the details. Brian 530-354-3740
Spent this weekend in the Sierra's and had a blast. Caught tons of fish, mostly little guys from 6-12 inches, but the size of fish never matters when you catch a bunch. I even made it down to the east slope and got into some browns. With all this nice weather in early fall it's time to get out there, and bri...

Hit up the North Yuba while visiting family in Sierra City and man I really love it up there. I go up there pretty often and catch tons of beautiful dinkers on dries, but this time my average fish well much larger than ever, not huge but my best on this river. Nailed the bigger ones on nymphs and lost one th...
While fishing the yuba today 9-22, I lost my Rio Spey Versileader Wallet as well as the leaders in it. I can describe the contents inside to a T as well as the locations it might have been found. If found please call me or email me. Thanks Brian oh ya as far as the fishing goes. it was pretty good. hooked a bunc...
I got up to the Putah on the 13th , sorry it took me a while to post. the water was pretty darn high, I crossed by the redds just down from the campground and the water was about 2 fingers from swamping my waders. Not even a look or a twitch till I bushwacked down to the spot someone was kind enough to show me a f...
RG - you asked for a report and here it is. Yuba fishes great right now from dawn till about 1:00. Salmon are starting to show, but aren't on redds yet. I had some success with caddis poopahs yesterday (orange and red) and i got a few on egg patterns. I fished it yesterday and was not disappointed. JL
What brand of dry fly floatant do you like ? Personally Daves bug float from umpqua is probably the one I found best. Although I used one called fly sauce(dont remember who makes it) And it was a close second. Rio's Floatant works fine but seems to not last as long. The one thing I really don't like is when f...
me and otter hit the carson this weekend and thought I was going to get skunked again but finally picked up a nice 17 in brown and some small bows and another 12in brn not so bad , but was unable to do the hike down from the bridge so we mostly fished above the bridge . after sleeping on the ground my back was pre...

Folks: I'm headed to Michigan for the next step in my career. I start my new gig on 9/20, but will be commuting back and forth for a few months. I'll be resigning my board position on Putah Creek Trout, effective immediately. I've loved my time here in California and many of the members of this forum have...

Headed out for a few hours fishing on Monday. Unfortunately, we started out late and only got to the river about noon and it was hot hot hot. I thought the warm weather would put the fish down on the bottom but it wasn't the case. Had a very good afternoon with a few larger than normal (for me) fish. In total I...
So my buddy and I made it out to the Carson for the first time. Labor day weekend (Sunday). Got on the water a little before 8:00am downstream of Hangman's. Beautiful river. We did alot of walking to get away from all the people that eventually showed up. I rigged up the night before with a stonefly n...

I was on the way home from a fishin trip last night and saw two groups of Elk cruising. The first group had a monster bull sitting on the side of the hill, but was too far away to get a picture. This is the second group here although this bull was a smaller sample. Still impressive though and you can actual...
Made a late afternoon run to the creek..Fishing over the last few weeks went from great to poor..It wasnt the silt , lack of bugs, over growth of grass or my fishing buddy for the day...I can only blame my lack of success on one thing...That stupid float tube Otter gave to JL....My hole has been raped.......
