Hi board members, I'm a recent transplant from WA and was thinking of planning a quick day trip to putah with my significant other. I've fly fished as a kid and have not done so in years so there are some things lacking in my fishing knowledge. I have in my arsenal a 5 wt rod, some attractors, nymphs, and dry flies in a few patterns. I'm asking to see which access point would be easy to get to and not too difficult to fish (trying to avoid snagging on things, nothing too technical). I was thinking of primarily nymphing with an indicator, but maybe you have other suggestions. I've checked out the map but have a hard time deciphering the different access points from the site. Any help on recent report of fish, set-up, access point directions, and fishing tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
All the access points are along the highway... There are 6 of them. They're all pretty easy to access. It's been a while since I've fished there, so I don't have a report for you. Most people fish the bridge area.
I don't fish Putah much, but there is a ton of good information from past posts here. If I were you I would search through posts from last year around this time. You will most likely find some pretty detailed reports that can help you along the way.

creek is about 4 miles long from the dam to access #5....plenty of spots to pull over and fish...you can see a few from the road...if you want a easy wade, stop at access #5 and walk down...creek splits at the top of #5 and the back side has some easy riffles and areas to high stick...You will feel like your on an island out there try and find the split and fish around that there......Small bugs will work best....#16 s&m, #18 zebra midge and a micro may in brown......get bugs on the bottom.....I have been getting plenty of fish every time out on any of those bug any hour of the day....
