First trip to the E. Carson (sorry, no pics)

So my buddy and I made it out to the Carson for the first time.  Labor day weekend (Sunday).  Got on the water a little before 8:00am downstream of Hangman's.  Beautiful river.  We did alot of walking to get away from all the people that eventually showed up.  I rigged up the night before with a stonefly nymph and a caddis dropper.  I had a first on this trip.  I always start with a nymph set-up and this first hole we got to had a few fish rising regularly.  We fished the nymphs for 20 min with nothing until my buddy got a big tangle and cut his off and tied on a dry.  His second cast with a BWO and wham!, fish on, 14" rainbow that he got close and then lost it due to a bad knot.  ( He knew it was bad when he tied it!) After that I got rid of the nymph rig and tied on my own BWO and bam! fish on.  Brought mine to the net, a 12" wild rainbow.  After the release, a few more casts and another fish, on.  Lost this one.  I think it was my first time actually seeing and fishing a "hatch".  After that we saw a few more rises and then that hole totally shut down.
We fished for about 4 hours total, landed 3, hooked 6.  I can't wait to head back there.  Next time I'm not going on a holiday.  We planned to fish above the bridge after lunch but it looked like a party all along the banks, people everywhere!

Nice fishing, shame about the crowds but I suppose that's what happens on holiday weekends.
