floatant prefference ?

What brand of dry fly floatant do you like ? Personally Daves bug float from umpqua is probably the one I found best. Although I used one called fly sauce(dont remember who makes it) And it was a close second. Rio's Floatant works fine but seems to not last as long. The one thing I really don't like is when floatant turns to liquid in hot weather. So feel free to share opinions or experiences with brands of floatant.

I have used all kinds.  I have the Umpqua stuff and it's good.  Lately I have been using Gerkes' gink.  Dont' know if I spelled that right.  Seems to float my dries and yarn indies pretty well, but as you said it does turn liquid in the heat.  That's why I'm on the water before it gets too hot.biggrin

Loon Aquel-doesn't paste up in cooler, winter weather or become water/spill out in higher summer valley temps. As advertised, Aquel is "temperature stable" enough for the region I fish.

i also use loons aquel and works very well, I actually put that on first, then once the fly starts sinking again, i use loons Top Ride which is a desicant and floatant. my flys float very well throughout the day. Also on flys that I want to have float all day, say for skating for steelhead or trout, I will get a tent silicon spray that you can buy from walmart, its called Sno-Seal Silicone Water Guard Spray, orange top, its great for keeping flys a float, as well as protecting tents and even your wading jacket. great stuff, highly recommended.
