Fished the McCloud on Thursday at Ah-Di-Nah and Friday on the nature conservancy. Fished the Upper Sac Saturday at Soda Creek and Sunday at Pollard Flat. The reports sure were misleading....everything said Caddis and Golden Stones. I think I saw 5 stones in 4 days and very few caddis. Lots of mayflie...

No New Posts Mammoth (Preview)
Survived my annual trip to fish the mammoth area. Fished alot of water from crowley to bridgeport. Fishing was really good. No huge fish to hand but the shear numbers of quality trout made for a great trip. Had a partner in crime this time, Whippersnapper. I think he even might have caught a trout or two....

No New Posts Eastern Sierra Trip (Preview)
I spent a few days fishing several rivers, creeks, and lakes along the Eastern sierras. The fishing was pretty good overall. Most fish were taken on small Mayfly nymphs and emergers as well as hoppers and stimulators.

No New Posts Montana Run 2010 (Preview)
We had another great Montana Run this year.  The rivers were running a bit high, some more so than others.  Most were just coming into shape after Montana's late, wet winter/ spring ( sound familiar?).  We stayed 4 days in Rock Creek.  The view of the valley off the back deck is picturede below.  Not to...

No New Posts Upcoming Northern CA Trip (Preview)
Just a couple more weeks and me and a buddy are heading North to fish the McCloud and Upper Sac for 4 days. I also want to try some of the smaller creeks around Mt Shasta for some fun small fish action, think McCloud Red bands. Conditions should be prime by then.

No New Posts Little Truckee 6/19 (Preview)
Arrived at the river around 10 am. Super low flow, but good clarity. Saw a bunch of fish working one seam and fished it most of the day. No takes on any nymphs. Threw just about the whole box at 'em, mainly size 18-20 midges etc. Finally around 2 pm, a good PMD hatch came off and fish were rising all over. Thre...

No New Posts North Fork or Middle Fork Stan Reports (Preview)
Next week is my annual camping trip with my brother and his kids, we usually head to Sourgrass on the NF or Sand Bar Flat on the Middlefork Stan.  Any one been up there recently, like in the last week or so?  I'm trying to determine if flows will be OK or if we should consider a backup location.

No New Posts Lower Yuba 5/30 (Preview)
I hadn't seen too many reports lately, so I thought I'd warm up the info hotline with a report on the Yuba. After 5 weeks of no fishing, Alastair and I headed up to the Lower Yuba on Sunday to remember how to do it.  We made up for lost time and put in a solid 12 hours of fishing during the day.  It's been a long...

So my kid just got his drivers license.  I told him if he kept up his grades we would try and get him a used bucket to drive around.  He kept up his end of the deal so we went to the fairgrounds and found this sweet old woody.  First thing he wanted to do was go fishing.  I told him you don't have to ask me twice and...

I fished the Feather River for the first time on Monday 4/26.  Floated the river with Ryan Johnson.  I was into fish the entire day, I hooked up 21 fish and sadly only landed 9.  These steelhead are really aggressive and strong.  All of the fish landed were wild fish except for 2 that were Hatchery fish....

No New Posts Tuolumne river (Preview)
Looks like I'll be spending much more time up in Groveland in the future, I've never fished any forks of the Tuolumne, has anyone spent any time up that way? How are the areas around Lumsden Bridge or Wards Ferry, meaning the usual routine of parking and hiking away from the heavily accessed areas?
