I got out twice last week, Monday on the LT from 3-7pm and Friday on the Truckee from 7-10am. Was on vacation with the family so I had to take what I could get!
If the flows don't come up on the LT I would not suggest hitting it. I called my guide buddy when I got there to get the scoop and he said the LT was at 40cfs and tough. I went anyway and man is it skinny water right now (at least at 40cfs). There were lots of fish to be seen but then they can also see you and that makes it really hard to get a bite. Fish were still in all the usual places but super spooky. I managed one nice fish to hand of around 18" on a midge nymph and had one fish come up and look at a spinner dry but turned away at the last second, that was it. Nymphing is very tough with the water maybe 2 feet deep, lots of alge on every drift. Hatches were basically nonexistent. In one pool later in the day there were fish rising to what must have been microscopic midges, probably needed a size 28 to even get a look.
Friday I fished the Truckee at the Loop. Got 3 nice fish to hand ranging from 12-18". 1 on a nymph and 2 on dries. If you fish the Truckee you need to get out early while the water is still cool. They are releasing water from the top of the Tahoe dam and in the afternoon when I was rafting the temp was 67 degrees, too warm for much activity.
