Never before had I caught two fish on the same cast. Was throwing a hopper with a caddis dropper, fish rises, i set, and all of a sudden a tug of war commences between a 14" bow and about a 13" pike minnow. Laughed pretty hard, and brought them both to hand. As always, released the little bow to grow bigger and fight again another day. The pike minnow on the other hand somehow got into an accident with a rock before i could manage to release it.
As far as the fishing went, it was pretty awesome, landed 6 while fishing from 3-6, mostly small fish between 14-16, one around 18, ldr'd a couple more fish, and got broken off immediately on the hook-set by a GIANT. Luckily I was fishing in gin clear water only about 15 feet from me, so I could see the take, and the huge fish, it had to be minimally 23-24", and had huge shoulders. All fish caught on hoppers, various sizes, and multiple variations (except for the pike minnow which ate the bead head z-wing caddis). Some may say hopper time on valley rivers is winding down, I think its still worth a go as long as we are still in the 90 degree temps.
The pic below is of the two fish I caught on the same cast, the little bow on top, and the little pike minnow on the bottom---kind of hanging there between my legs, hard to make out from the pic.

That's crazy, I was seriously thinking of asking that very question on this board the other day! Well, theres an answer for me. It's a miracle you were able to bring them both in.
hey drifter so guessing that area that we have talked about before is starting to pick up really well. Looks like i need to head out there on tuesday and do some swinging.

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
That happened to me twice on the upper owens. One time I hooked a nice fish on a dry, then a small fish hit the dropper while fighting the big one. The big one came off and I landed the small one, damn it.
