No New Posts report (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 0 737

Fished in rain yesterday; vis is very low and fish are hiding. Saw one fish about 10" hit my 3/4" thingamobober, so I switched to egg pattern. No fish caught between me and my brother. If you do fish Putah careful of the skunks...they are everywhere.

No New Posts Berryessa (Preview) Other Rivers, Streams and Lakes 2 844

Anybody on the board fish Lake Berryessa much? I have spring break coming up in a couple weeks and I thought I'd give it a try, but I've never fished it before. I just inherited a canoe and want to try it out as well. Is the flyfishing any good on berryessa or would it be better just to go to lake solano?

No New Posts Spawn is about over (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 1 789

A survey being conducted on the creek by DFG and PCT indicates the spawn is about over. But that does not mean its safe to wade in the tailouts and other redd areas. After fertilization, the eggs are at risk to crushing boot treads for 45-50 days afterward. That means its another month, until April, befo...

No New Posts Lower Sac (Preview) Other Rivers, Streams and Lakes 7 1060

Had a blast with my father fishing the Lower Sac with Ryan Johnston.  After teaching the old dog the new trick, we boated 26 nice rainbows which topped out at 19.5".  We drifted the middle section.  It was cold but dry.  Most of the fish were taking orange egg patterns! Weird time of year for that bu...

I had a chance to go to the Flyfishing Show in Pleasanton today.  Once again, fewer rod and reel manufacturers and fewer outfitters as well.  No DF&G booth either.  No Leland or Western booth as well.  This show sems to get a bit smaller every year. I'm amazed that a number of larger rod and reel ma...
