I noticed a ton of fisherman parked along Putah this weekend. With the water so low and people parked at spawning locations, I can't help but wonder if the spawning trout are being targeted.
I am new here and was looking to fly fish the putah tomorrow. After I read this I don't want to disturb the redds. Please let me know if it is recommended to go and if so, let me know where I should go. Thanks.
I have been out and about a lot lately. I have not seen any fish spawning or even holding in the spawning areas. With the flows dropping so much last week most of the mature fish have moved into the deeper water that is not fishable for wading or from the bank.
I was out there on Sunday and I have to agree with Berryessie, I didn't see any groups of fish holding in the shallows. I did have fun fishing a great BWO hatch around 2 o'clock though.
I've noticed that there are a lot of cars at access 3. The parking lot was completely full and cars parked on the road. Either they see fish or it's just easier access to fish. I haven't seen fish spawning but definitely staging for the spawn. It's going to be pretty soon we'll see them spawning.
There are no fish around Access 3 those people are just bird watching. There is a bunch of woodpeckers in the area. Nope haven't seen any hatches of BWOs in the afternoon or Caddis in the evening.
I also have been on the lookout for spawners and have yet to see any spawning. Have only seen one possible old red from the higher flows.
