We are entering our 4th year as the only nonprofit organization solely dedicated to protecting the environment and wild trout fishery in the InterDam Reach (IDR). During the first 3 years we have worked closely with DFG and with interested stakeholders in a number of activities, including regulation change and temporary signage, educating fishermen to the current regs, assisting with fish and angler surveys, spawning surveys, and spawning habitat rehabilitation. We have also recently formed an IDR Working Group with involvement of local governments and businesses, county agencies, local nonprofits, and others seeking to add improvements to this 6 mile stretch of creek.
In past years we have held fund raisers to feed our small war chest. Due to the economy and other circumstances, we did not hold an event in 2012 and our funds, put to the above operations and others, have dwindled. Thanks to generous support from local fly clubs and a few individuals, we have made it through this year. In 2013 we are looking to outside grant funding sources to provide some support, but this is a highly competitive arena these days, and funding is currently very limited.
We are asking our members and friends to make a donation this year to bridge the gap until grant funding is secured. The funds will go to purchasing permanent weather and vandal resistant regulation signage, supplies and equipment for the soon to start spawning study, and surveillance equipment. Other studies that are planned include fish movement monitoring and genetic analysis of our IDR wild trout population.
Donations of $10 or more are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Please consider including us in your tax deductible giving plans for 2012. Our Tax ID/EIN is 26-446 3081. Donations can be made on our website using the red "Donate" button located on the top right of the home page, or by check by mailing to our address listed below.
A second PayPal donate button may appear on this page when you log on that is for Nature Center Chairs/Tables. This button may also be used; the funds will preferentially go to the projects listed above.
