I've hooked fish at least as big but never landed em. This guy took a #22 olive midge with a green glass bead head. Other then that fishin...

Hello All, I have been lurking these pages for a couple of years now and thought I should introduce myself. As a Winters native I have fished the creek all my life and pronounce it as Pu-tah not Pootah as I hav heard many of you say. I am not one to really post on forums but I will chime in from time to time. I...
So I'm pretty bored, so I thought I'd put up this pic. I played golf 2 weeks ago right next to piece of water. Your only hint is that it is in NorCal. Edit: Crap, it came out pretty small so put it up on your BIG monitor. -- Edited by Ty on Monday 20th of December 2010 04:07:44 PM
The new 2011 fishing licenses are computer generated. They slide your driver's license through a computer. My guess is if you have tickets you will probably be denied... Anyways the steelhead cards are now about two feet long. The salmon cards required for the Smith this year are about 3 feet long...
I just wanted to post under the "putah creek flyfishing report" because this is the heading that gets the majority of the traffic. You all should go the the "a little shameless promotion" and see the info on our very own James Haghns book about his dad. I just finished it a few wee...

My girlfriend bought this DVD for me for Christmas and I just finished watching it. What a great film! I would highly recommend this to anyone. Pretty amazing how much things changed in 60-70 years. Only if we could turn back time and alter the way things were done. It really makes you think...

One Weight had a great idea to settle the Redds discussion. I will use my considerable clout to bring some celebrity contestants for an exhibition to our octogon. The octogon will be smaller than usual so talk will be cheap and there will be no running away.Actually the octogon will have four sides ins...
Landed this fish today. Bright and silver. I thought I was on the Yuba. Jumped four feet in the air. I think it was attacked by an Otter.... Had a little chunk of skin missing....
I might as well get this topic started. A few fish a starting to pair up in certain areas of the creek getting ready for this spawning season. Usually spawn goes in full swing in December through the end of February. So on that note, if you care about the creek just flat out don't fish it during those 3 month...

Have you seen it? CDFG gives a guy a warning for smoking the wacky tobacco and gives two guys tickets for barbed hooks salmon fishing. Right now they are after some meth heads killing mountain lions. One of our local guides has changed jobs and is up north chasing the bad guys in Oregon.
I bought some Metz 2.3 mm (3/32") black tungsten beads. The holes in the beads were too small to fit onto a #16 3769 Tiemco hook. This had never happened to me before. I sent a email to Umqua with my complaint and they not only sent be a new package of beads, but also a package of #16 3769 hooks. The c...
From a quick glance, Lower Putah Creek extendeing from below the Lake Solano diversion dam all the way to the sink hole in the marsh seems to falls under Article 2: District General Regulations for the Valley District (all Solano and Yolo County): (3) All strems except anadromous waters and those lis...
So to try get away from our mud-slinging post. how's everyone doing?? Hows the weather?? I was up at the Yuba last week and had a pretty good time of it. Fish are fat and happy.... post all the caviar they have been munching on. So wait for the rain to settle down, and if you have the time drop me a PM as I would...
From what I uderstand they had moved the flows up to help with the salmon spawning, but now they have reduced them to below 60 cfs. Does anyone know the reasonong for this?? Also at 60 cfs isn't that going to put some of the trout redds high and dry??
