No New Posts thomas & thomas (Preview) Equipment and Product Reviews 4 1347

Anybody have any experience with thomas & thomas rods.  I am getting back into rod building and they have blanks readily available.  Pretty similar prices as the z-axis.  The finished rods on their website are sexy as hell, but that means little on the water.  Probably start with some cheaper st...

Do you have to pay at all the access areas you park at, or does paying at one give you access to all on that day?

No New Posts Lower Yuba 1/14  ( 1 2 ) (Preview) Other Rivers, Streams and Lakes 47 4162

Hit the Lower Yuba yesterday on a whim.  The spring crowds are beginning already as there were 10 guys above the bridge.  The  half inch of rain from wednesday put only a slight tinge in the water, which was even lower than 10 days ago.  My guess is that is reaching 700 CFS and must be at minimum allowable...

While on the road for work I scrapped together a full day on the South Platte. Cheeseman Canyon to be exact. 26 degrees. A bright day. Gin clear water. It was tough fishing. This little lady got hungry just before dark.

No New Posts Rod & reel wt ratings over time (Preview) Equipment and Product Reviews 4 1478

I've heard it said that older rods rated at say, 6 wt would be best paired with a modern 5 wt line.  For example, I have an original Sage 6wt/7wt 9' rod (no model designation), would that best be matched with a 5 wt / 6 wt line?   Is there a similar "rule" for reels?  I could go through trial and er...

No New Posts Spawners on the redds (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 11 2177

PCT is interested in finfing out if you have seen active spawners on the redds at the usual places. Much of the best areas appear to be weed choked and the one fish I saw today was finning up a cloud of silt every time she made a pass over the gravel-not a good sign. This is an informal follow up to last years SC...

I am into fly fishing for only a couple of years now, I've done quite a bit of fishing on the east coast.
