wished i could have made it up there on sunday with the boys, but couldnt miss out spending time with the gf at a football game. good thing the game wasnt boring.
anyways got a lil info from rich and figured y not break in the new boots and the new rod on the yuba. glad i did.
so djwatts and myself got up but o crack o dawn to get to the yuba early. cant believe there was already 2 cars already under the bridge and 3 on the other side. crazy people dont they have jobs. so we decided to fish the bridge for a lil bit then move upstream. i hooked up right off the bat with a nice 13"er. it felt pretty good on the new rod. and the boots man do they grip well. so worked out way up around the bend to where u can cross, wanted to fish the inside of the run but 2 people were fishing it already. so worked the seam on the east side of the river (also could be the south side which ever way u look at it). finally hooked into a nice fatty just under 20"s where the 3 islands come together, and it took a good amount of line, but finally got it all bank and to the net. thanks paul for running up the river to land that fish for me. its was a great fight, and the new rod took it well. from there we worked up a little farther, say 2 steelhead spawning which was very nice to see. then worked back down river. fished a few spots below some old salmon redds, thats where paul hooked into a nice healthy 14 incher, but just couldnt keep it on. after that went down stream a lil father and fished a run that is usually stacked with salmon and its about 2-300 yrds long. there are still a few salmon spawning, couple cheesed up and a few chrome ones. but no fish behind them. then we moved back up to the bridge and the fishing turned on. didnt have to much time left to fish i did a quick down one side up the other, and withing about 45 mins i hooked 4 and landed 4. on 8" dink the others the usual 16-18"ers. so all in all a great day on the river, and paul gettin some more experience with his fly fishing game.
a few pics from the day

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
