some time shortly after Christmas? Supposed to be nasty weather over next weekend but I could probably swing the 26th or 27th before the storms come in.
Let's talk more about dates later and watch the weather. I just looked at the calendar and the 26th and 27th are actually the weekend it's supposed to be nasty. I'm off work until Jan 6th so I'm pretty open as to when I can go.
You gotta stop relying on that backyard chemistry set for weather analysis. My weather report says a 40%  chance of showers for Sunday. That was enough to keep the weenies off of the water last time!!!! It is only supposed to be cloudy on Saturday. I say let's rally!
yup ill be there, hopefully with my new 5wt rod boots and cleats, need to break them in right. just let me know when and i am there.
crap guess after hanging out with the gf tonight, she reminded me of something. i am going to the 49ers game with her on sunday. sorry cant miss that. i can go saturday though. let me know

Man, I hate when you say that !!!! I believe I'm open both days, I'm open 1 of 2 for sure.
Actually, in checking, there is a Warrior game Saturday night, so Sunday is better.

Take it from a guy who's been married 26 years, bring her on the trip and you'll get all the fishing in next year that you want!!!! Let's call it hard learned lesson from a guy with a very thick skull.
If all goes well I should be heading up there Saturday with one of my nephews, I'll be in a gold 4Runner with Thule pod on the roof. We'll keep an eye open for anyone from the board.
I might be out there on Sunday. I may look upstream of the 20 bridge, but most likely I will fish downstream. I got word from guide, Ron Speroni, that trout are starting to key in on Skwala nymphs.
Ill be back in napa soon and would love it if someone would join me and sarah to the yuba or another river when we get back just pm me or call me at (707) 294-4738
I have always been a fan of the Rubberlegs Stonefly. Last year, I did well with the dark brown/olive combination as a Skwalla. It's not very lifelike, but it worked.
There is a new version of that fly called a Jimmy Legs (named after Jimmy from South Park). It is tied on a 2302 hook, and its legs are knotted to make bent legs. Supposively it has a higher catch rate than the standard Rubberlegs.
The picture below is the Jimmy Legs. I'll probably try tying a few in the dark brown/olive combination.

yup got to love the JTBOWBBC skwala nymph. i use that thing everywhere, from the yuba, to the american, the truckee even the carson. i do a lil variation of the jt skwala and bowb skwala, i give it my own lil flava. but it works well. last time out on the yuba i hooked 3 nice fatties on the skwala.

I know this is an old post, but I am just getting around to tying skwalas. What dubbing are you guys using? Looks like olive brown rabbit? Golden stone possum? I tried using thin skin for the back, but medallion sheeting seems easier to work with. Black wire ribbing? Help!!!! Size 10 or 12 200R seems about right. Lead wire? Great tie JT Super rubberlegs skwala.
i use dark hares ear dubbin or super floss for the thorax, and then dark hares ear dubbin for the abd. but instead of super floss for legs i use tarantula legs, or black rubber legs. also use black brs wire for the ribbin on the abd to give it a seg body, yes i use lead as well as tungsten bead head. as far as hooks size 8 and 10 in 2457 and 2302.

I use a #8-10 TMC 2457 or equivalent with lead wraps, black or brown wire ribbing, thin skin, split superfloss legs, and light (or dark) hares ear buggy nymph dubbing.
