Ive been getting a good number of request for a putah creek crash course..Bono and I did one last year . I would be more than happy to put on another class again this year..I would also like to do a redds class as well (about the spawn on putah). When the creak clears up I will start off with a redds class the...
Great day (if a bit windy). Thanks Steve for setting up. Did land one nice fish, though I think Alistair and MX got the most fish. I targeted only large ones (LOL). Couple photos attached. JL
I am looking at getting a switch rod for trout. I will be buying to use mosly on the Yuba, but I might use it on the Truckee, Little Truckee, American for half pounders and maybe Putah. I wanted to ask if anyone has used the TFO Professional series 11ft 5wt switch as well as the Deer Creek 11ft 4 an...
Hello Everyone, I will be traveling to Sonoma on a work vacation from April 20-25. I am very excited to get out for a day or 2 on the Putah Creek while I'm there. I have really enjoyed reading all of the tips and discussions about your local fishery. My question is what fly shops would you recommend in the...
Just a final wrap up for this Sunday. We'll meet at Fishing Access #5 parking lot at 9:30 AM. If you have a heavy duty stapler, bring it with you. Same goes for a small ladder or two as well. I have the following people who have graciously volunteered their time: SK60, Brian Clemens, Dr. Bombay, Eme...
sarah and I drifted from just above turtle rock from about ten to 5 too about two miles down with slim from cast hope. Our first time on a drift boat for me or sarah what a great thing to see sarah finally hit some fatties and the the biggest one of the day probably around five pounds and 22 inches-- not sure o...
I have taken on the job of organizing this year's Woodland Cub Scout Pack 499 Fishing Derby on Sunday, April 25th. I am hoping that some of you can help me come up with a location to take 20-30 youngsters out and catch some fish (species don't matter). This location would have to be within an hour of Woodl...
I recently wrote U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in regards to the Delta water flow issue. Thought I'd share her canned response with everyone. For some much needed levity on this issue from Jon Stewart go here. In between laughs he aptly points out that we are currently in this situation thanks to the e...
I was hanging out at a local fishery last weekend, and was surprised by a warden??? He hiked into the canyon to check my license I guess.... Anyways he checked license and hooks. He decided one hook was not pinched down enough. He asked if I had pliers... I gave him my flat tipped pliers and he pinch...
I haven't been on the Yuba since November. Sounds like some are having good days reading the latest entries. This winter has not been good to me so its my first time out this year at all. Anyone have anything else as far as how its fishing? Thx Brett
The lure of the Lower Yuba got me again. I made an early morning decision to head up to the Lower Yuba on Friday. The flows were over 2300, Deer Creek was at 119 CFS, meaing the Lower Yuba was probably muddy. There was a chance of rain. I decided the hell with it, I had to run up. Worst that could happen w...
I currently have a Pioneer AVH-P5700dvd In Dash touch screen deck plus ipod interface adapter that I am selling. I rarelly use the dvd part of this deck anymore so figured I would sell it to someone that will use it more that I. It is really good condition, everything works on it like a champ, and it lite...
April 10-12. Heading out Saturday late afternoon for Pyramid Lake. Fish Pyramid all day Sunday then head out Monday morning and fish the Little Truckee on the way home. Short quick trip but there should be many LARGE fish to be caught!
Has anyone had a chance to fish the East Carson, T or LT lately? I'm heading up that way this weekend and was hoping to mix in some fishing on the EC with some skiing.
Starting with TODAY. Friday the 19th. A tailwater near the town of clements surprised me with over 30 fish between me and my brother. Most fishes were 6-12 inchers. I had 2 that were 16 inches or so. No measure net. All I gotta say is, that place is burning hot right now. Strike wise, and tempurature wise....
Anybody try these hooks out? My buddy got them at the Pleasanton show. Barbless tying hooks from Sweden I think? These are the scud czech nymph model. The are also slightly off center like a gama octopus. Pretty cool.
I want to get a date set for our "Informational Posse" to get the word out on the new year round Catch and Release regulations at Putah. My idea is to mix up a day of creek walking with fishing, and pass the word out while we hit the river. This will be done on a completely informational basis...
I picked up a used rod a while ago, it has the Sage logo on it and the description is "9' for 6 or 7 lines" and matching tube with the same markings. There is no serial number. Anyone know anything about old Sage rods? I'm just trying to figure out what it is. It's built on a gray blank tha...
I know this should be in the for sale section but it gets little traffic. I've finally decided to get rid of my hardware gear since it's not been used for a while and will continue to sit there. I've got crank baits, spinner baits, plastic baits, trolling gear, powerbait, filet knife, etc. The whole tack...
I guess this doesn't really fit anywhere, certainly not here . . . but did anyone else recognize how sparse the vendor attendance was at The Fly Fishing Show this year? Two years ago, there were 2 exhibit halls, this year only one. Sage, Orvis, WInston, Powell, Ross and I think even Simms and Patagoni...
