Awesome fish! Sorry I missed the PCT day on the Yuba. Allastair said it was a good time. He mentioned that you had stuck a nice fish.
My friend and I fished the Lower Yuba on Mon & Tues of this week. Was hoping for a reduction in crowds, but not this week. Bridge parking was full, especially Tues. But we managed to hook into some nice fish between us. Presentation was a mixed bag of march brown sparkle duns on top to dropping wine colored san juan worms (which took the most fish) under indicators. Hooked one fish that jumped and belly flopped like a giant pig. Must have been in the 5-6lb range, but l lost him after the belly flop when he took off for Nevada. Paying attention might help next time!
Yeah, the Lower Yuba is fishing pretty well right now, but can change in a day to nada. Bob (oneweight) recently had a banner day on the river. Its certainly worth checking out. Here's a pic of one fish that took a MB Sparkle Dun. Too bad I couldn't show off the "giant" fish. He's still there....
We went up again yesterday and the fishing was on for most of the day. Some really nice fish landed and a few lost. I hooked into a real toad who came running straight at me, rocketed out of the water right next to me, looked, and said goodbye. I'd guess it was 21"-22", but that's all we'll have, a guestimate.
I nymphed most of the day. There was a pretty good rise in the slicks in the early PM. The wind came up about that time, must have been 20-25MPH and things pretty much shutdown after that. I agree, the river is still on. Crowds were pretty heavy and we fished our way up into the UC Property.

Nice fish guys ! I haven't gotten up to the yuba lately, But been doing well on some other valley tailwater. Good time to be doing some flyfishing. Transition from winter to spring makes the fishes active. I've had some good caddis action with this onset of warm weather. REAL GOOD ! Epic ? Perhaps .
Dr. B, (nice s**t eating grin on that avatar) let's see.... the lower Stan, the Mok below Comanche, can't be the Tuolumne, not AR... Kings River above Pine Flat Res, wait, you said tail water??? Caddis hatch? Give it up. (PM)
Thinkin' of hittin' the East Carson for a couple of days below Hangman's this week, if the weather holds.
i would be careful hittin the east carson, flows right now are just under 250, and if the weather stays like this its only gonna get higher. there is some great fishing on the EC under 350 cfs, but anything over that its hard to cross in the usual spots so new crossing paths are needed to be found, but even then make sure u have a wading stick.

hows the yuba been lately? havent ben there for about a month. thinking about hitting it this weekend, or next weekend. been all over california this past weekend.
yuba is awesome right now. just get out and have fun. I was out friday when the storm came through, was out there guiding a friend of mine, but i did get some fishing in as well, between 8am and 2pm we hooked 25 fish walking and wading. then me and bowb hit the yuba yesterday, with a day on the water that has been in the works for a while and well needed. glad it finally happened bud, need to do another one soon. Maybe that east walker trip i was talking about. anyways. the plan was I would nymphing and he would swing and we would change it up. bowb started out swinging and got a few EATS lol. inside joke. i started with nymphing and hooked a few. eventually bowb switched to nymphing and i decided to swing for a bit on the way out and finally got my first yuba trout on the swing. it was a blast, never felt a take like that ever. after that went back to nymphing. and we called it a day. I think bowb had a few EATS on the swing through out the day, and i hooked 10 landed 4.
And finally met codym on the water. nice meeting you bro. hope to see ya again out there soon.
