I want to get a date set for our "Informational Posse" to get the word out on the new year round Catch and Release regulations at Putah. My idea is to mix up a day of creek walking with fishing, and pass the word out while we hit the river. This will be done on a completely informational basis without any confrontation. My thought is to work in groups of two, covering the different Fishing Accesses and popular spots. DF&G is interpreting the regulations to exclude Lake Solano at this point, so we do not necessarily need to hit this area.
Some new regulations signs will need to be posted to update previous signage as well.
Here are some of the volunteers that I have listed from the previous post:
Brian Clemens, Rich Loft, Alistair, Bono, Cliff (?), Chris (?). Perhaps I could draft Dr. Bombay, Packrat, Vince, Jon Vento and a few more????
I could probably use 2-4 more people . . . can a couple more people volunteer?
I am looking at one day to begin . . . either Saturday, March 20th or Sunday, March 21st or the next weekend Saturday March 27th or Sunday, March 28th. One day only. Can you RSVP and give me which date(s) work out please. Thank You very much.

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
How about if we plan on 3/21 then. It will be the day after my 50th birthday party, so I may need some fresh air and help in collecting my thought that day.
Now is a chance to assist PCT!!! Anyone else who would like to volunteer is welcome. At the present time it looks like 5 people. I would really like to have a minimum of 8. This would allow for a few hours of fishing as well.

I am avaliable on the weekend of the 27th and 28th. and would love to be in on it and meet some of the clan. Just a thought what if we made a sweep through the creek on both weekends.

That's exactly what i want to do. We're doing the 21st of Mrach and then something in April as well. For March 21st I have:
Me SK60 Emerger Steelhdr Brian Clemens Timmosazz -? i didn't know if you signing on for March 21st or not.
I have several other who said they would like to participate, but have not heard from:
Bono RG Loft African Angler WD
PLease let me know.
I would like to have 8 people working in 4 teams of 2.
Anyone else who would lijke to jump in is more than welcome. Now is an opportunity to assist in the work that follows the Regs change which everyone has been so happy about. This is what makes it all happen in the end, getting the word out on the creek. Almost as important, we can fish while we work the creek!!!!!!!
I will set up another date for April in a couple of weeks.
I could help Sunday, March 28. Can do Sunday, April 25 opening weekend.
Most of my Saturday's are booked, but may have additional Sunday availability if needed.
PM sent.

Just to clear things up I cannot make it on the 21st at this time. Things may change and I will let you know if they do for the 21st. But I am open for the next weekend and April looks good.

Cool, that would make 8 people. Hopefully Brian can accomodate. I have ensured that some Bombay Saphire will be on tap at the Buckhorn for the needs of Dr. Bombay.
Thanks so much for stepping up to bat.

Bob-your opening post above is about information dissemination and walking the creek- is it for the reg season opener end of April when you expect the usual crowd that uses bait and/or keeps fish? Thats different from the sign posting and a bigger effort.
I want to get the signs up as well as get info out on the regs change. We'll replace the existing signage, which should be a real quickie and spread the word on the river as we get a chance to fish as well. My experience has been that once the weather begins to get nice, the first people who do not understand about regs hit the creek and enjoy the weather.
The other side effect is that we'll educate fishermen on the river about the new regs so they can pass the word to people observed violating the new regulations.
i got you jon, all is good. what time and where are we going to meet for this day. do i need to bring any tools for replacing the signs. guessing we will be bringing out fishing gear as well correct.
as far as a date in april, i would like to be able to do that as well, but would only be able to do it the first weekend in may which is the 1st and 2nd do to being booked up on the 24th and 25th of april already.

Okay, we have 8 volunteers . . . thank you so much. We will meet in the parking lot at access 5 (the first fishing access when heading to Monticello Dam from Winters) at 9:30 AM. This will give everyone ample time to get up and moving. I will probably be moving slowly the morning after my 50th birthday party. We will provide signs and some clear caulk to put over the staples. If you have a heavy duty stapler to put signs up, please bring it with you.
We will go over the whole operation at Access 5 on Sunday. We will also have new business cards with the regs printed on them that you can hand out to anglers.
