It seems like most people on here have an obsession with the elusive brown trout of Putah Creek. I think I may have caught something even more rare last week. Hooked it on a 4wt, put up a great fight. This was caught on Putah Creek...just maybe not on the upper section.

Hello all! I fished the south fork of the Stanislaus river below tulloch lake on Friday. The flows were up ( about 575cfs )?, which is fishable but ideal conditions are?300 cfs and lower. Caught one beautiful wild 14"er on a March Brown Nymph # 16. Earlier in the day I was stripping in a black marabo...
Single hand spey or trick casting can be done with any weight rod.? I have done it on different weight rods.? The key to doing it right or smoothly is to understand that while doing the spey cast, one must use the water as an anchor.? To do it all from my own personal perspective, one must learn the SWITCH CA...
I can kinda do the spey casting with my 5wt Sage. But I can't do it well with my 9wt. Its a 9foot 9wt Echo classic with WF9F Rio Clouser line + a shooting basket. I understand that one needs to have moving water, but is there anything else to consider? Is my gear too heavy? Do I need a particular type of line tap...
It appears that the flows/releases on Putah?have started to rise to summer levels.? This morning the website shows 313 cfs.? I've never fished Putah at that level of flow.? Does anyone have any thoughts about how fishable the creek is at that level and how does it affect the holding areas,? rig set-up...
A lot of you have been hitting the Yuba lately, and I've heard that the March Brown hatch is coming along.? I want to tie up some nymph patterns.? What color and general size are the nymphs?
