I haven't been fishing long, I'm still learning and I have a long way to go, but I learned a very valuable lesson Monday out by the bridge..... There is a very fine line between chest waders and a bucket.
Still pretty new here.? What type of reel maintenance should I be doing and how often?? I also saw a few post about the line.? I typically just unwind everything every other time or so and wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth.? Any other tips to keep everything working smoothly??
Just back from fishing the north yuba for 3 days. It was fun, fast action fishing pretty much the whole time, The fish ran small but hit hard and fought like champs, average fish was 6 to 12 inches. Best flies were orange stimulator, or a yellow humpy for the dry's, Best nymphs to use were black copepr john...

Got out to the creek sunday around 5:30.? Hit access five. didn't see another person, which was nice. Was still about 90 degrees, so I decided to wet - wade.? I may not do that again b/c the poison oak on the trails is becoming pretty hard to avoid, and waders can help with that. Anyway, as I headed out to the...
Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to use regular flies such as nymphs, streamers, or dry flies etc... in salt water in general. What I mean by if they will work is are the hooks fine with the salt and the materials on the flies, or will the salt damage the flies somehow, and this is if not using specific sal...
Finally got some stripers on a fly! Tonight from 6pm to Sunset I fished the incoming tide on some shoreline in San Pablo bay. I just caught a bunch of schoolies to 16" but all in just 30 minutes. Hey if anyone has any good tips on tying secure wings with deer hair on dry flies let me know. Lately when I tie one on, it wants to slide around and not stay on top of the hook. It is really frustrating but there has to be some secret to it.
Thanks,
Conefish
I fished Beaver Creek just past the N Fork Stanislaus today.? I went in with modest expectations, but it was pretty darn good.? First time I fished it and?I actually like the layout a lot better than the actual NF because I really enjoy fishing smaller streams. Flow was fine, water temp seemed fine( I wa...
I fished the E. Carson on saturday with a friend, did some exploring and found this little trib. It was real skinny water, five feet at it's widest with undercut banks. We caught 6 between 15" to16" with the largest being 20". Black woolies were the ticket but I think anything that look...
I was fishing to this big trout on access five, throwing everything in the box. I finally got him on a flashy olive wooly bugger that i had tied on my other rod and wasn't trying. It was a nice 23" wild rainbow trout
