No New Posts Waterboatmen (Preview)
I've noticed that there are quite a few waterboatmen and backswimmers in Lake Solano and the slower areas on the creek.  Does anyone know of any good patterns to imitate them?  I'm sure the fish would tear 'em up.

No New Posts Why no posts ? (Preview)
I see where a lot of folks view this site, but how come no one has anything to discuss or share ? Is it because we either fish Putah Creek or one of the local lakes/resevoirs and there really isn't much to talk about ? I realize a lot of good trout fishing can be had up north and that we all are limited in terms...

I fished the creek today for a couple of hours.  I don't think that I have ever had such a bad landed/hooked ratio.  I hooked 8 fish but only landed 2: one a little hatchery fish, the other a 14 inch football.  I thought the one was a lot bigger because of how fat he was. ...

No New Posts Putah access (Preview)
I was up at Putah for the first time a little while back and ran into a couple of fly fishermen who told me I couldn't fish from the bridge to the dam, that only members of the resort can fish that stretch. So I turned around and ran into another guy who told me I couldn't fish downstream from the bridge...

Fished below the bridge early, with the flows where they are a lot of weight is needed to get the bugs in the feeding lanes. Landed two nice fish both 18"-20" (putah footballs) and failed to land a few others. Usual suspects...micro mayflies , pts, and hairs ears. Outnumbered by spin fisherman 5...

No New Posts Putah Creek Flow Link? (Preview)
I see that something has changed on the flow link.  It no longer has the historical data and covers an entire year instead of 31 days.  Is there any chance we can get back the original link?  Phil

No New Posts Hot Flies ? (Preview)
Hey Everyone, I am heading to the creek tomorrow and I was wondering what flies I should bring.  I always take some midges along, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend any other flies that I can tie up before I go.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt

No New Posts Fishing Putah (Preview)
I have fished Putah Creek a number of times. Usually I have used bait however I am also a flyfisherman. I find the waters to be challenging..usually strong flows around the nice rocky areas and some really deep stretches which make wading impossible. I've fished...

No New Posts May 19th (Preview)
I know it's been over a week, but I fished below the bridge on the evening of May 19th after my last final exam.  The final went well and the fishing was okay.  It rained the whole time I was there so I wasn't fighting any crowds.  I caught two fish, one hatchery and one native.  It was...

No New Posts Net found (Preview)
If anyone lost a trout net (about 16 inches long, shallow dip-net) on Putah, I found one stuck behind a tree right above Lake Salono today.  PM me if you lost it, and think it might be yours.  Fishing was a little different today, caught 5, missed 3, but they were far between.

No New Posts Tuesday Fishing (Preview)
Got out for a few hours on Tuesday. Hooked two nice fish in the riffle below access #5 on a small black zebra midge.  Landed one. Got one more near the split, but was a dink. Like Yukon Mike - I spent a LOT of time getting the moss off my rig. JL

No New Posts Another #@*%$ Break-In (Preview)
I went over to access 5 this morning after seeing that the flows had supposedly dropped to 772 cfs overnight.  After having my van broken into in February at the same access, I parked on the highway in plain sight, hoping that it would deter thieves.  Unfortunately, that was not the case.&n...

I checked the flows this morning, they were at 64 cpf!  Is this a typo on the website, or did the creek just drop 5 ft?  Can anyone confirm this?  That is really weird.

No New Posts Putah Creek (Preview)
It's nice to see that putah's water levels are declining (slowly), but i'm hoping that since we recieved so much rain this winter/spring, they won't release as much water this summer for farming; maybe summer levels will be more like fall levels this year!  Does anyone think this is possible?&...

I headed up to creek to check out the flows yesterday between classes.  At 7140 cfs, they were incredible!  The creek has since receeded to 6500 cfs.  We saw some changes in the areas around the creek with the last high water and I'm sure we'll see many more changes when the flows...
