so me and my brother karl fished the creek today. we got out there around 430ish, we didnt really fish to much we were just exploring looking for new less crowded places.. well while we were walking threw the trees on the way back to the car i hear this really loud bang. so i ask karl if he heard it and he didnt so i thought nothing of it. we got back to the car only to relize that some idiot smashed the window and took karls wallet (wich had no cash in it) and his cell phone... that just makes me sick that people would do stuff like that, i meen its going to cost more to repair the window than they got out of it.. and to top it all off we didnt even catch any fish... we were parked by the split and the lady at the store said break ins happen quite offten there so just keep an eye out.
Sorry to hear about your mishap. It just seems to be happening far too frequently these days. I'm seriously thinking about trying to find a new place to fish. For now, we all need to keep an eye out. We may be able to catch the punks who have been doing this.

Sorry to hear about this...just out of curiosity, where is the split ? Up by the bridge ? It's a shame that you can't go out and fish without having to worry about who is breaking into you vehicle....
I definitely feel your pain. I had two break-ins at access 5 in February and May. The highway patrol suggested that I leave the car unlocked with nothing in it to steal. Since that time I leave nothing of value when fishing and leave the windows open on my van. At least they don't need to break the windows in order to find nothing of value. So far, so good.

I once did this at a rock climbing area which was having a similar issue. What happened?
They stold my truck battery and gouged up my seat with what looked like a machette. I then had to walk 5 miles to the nearest paved road :(
A word of caution, make sure you take all of your registration and/or anything that would ID you and/or list your address.

I second that. Years ago at the upper bridge my truck was broken into. They took my vehicle registration and garage door opener. It wasn't to hard to figure out the rest.

Those are good points guys. Of course, if your vehicle is locked they can still break a window and take the registration, trash your car , etc. It sounds like a good idea to hide any identifying papers in any event.
One thing I have done at access 5 is to park downstream along the highway where the creek is close to the road. It is a bit of a walk, but my idea is that someone may be less likely to break in if they think a fisherman is right down the hill fishing. At access 5, they know we are nowhere near our vehicles.
In any event, I would love for one of these clowns to get caught. It is very frustrating and can really take the joy out of fishing for a while.
i never ever park in the access areas because of this crap, always right on the road. I fished near access three this past weekend and after a day of fishing i walked about a mile along the road back to my car and at one spot i saw a big pile of broken window glass on the ground so i guess even parking along the road isnt 100% safe. But i'll be damned if i am gonna let these punks keep me from fishing putah.

i think that couldve been from our car.. we were right on the road in plain site... im thinkin of taking my civic up there and just waiting in the bushes with some friends... they could be close to getting caught though because the credit card company called and said someone bought 400 dollar boots from a western store in vacaville, but they got his face on camera and the police were contacted. hopefully they get caught.
