hello,
I have just started fishing putah and dont know much about the creek. ( only caught a couple of small bows) I have only ever fished by the bridge and the damn, are these spots too heavily fished, (poached trout)? i guess what i am trying to get at is, are the down stream accesses better in te...
This weekend myself my son and 6 other friends booked a few days at a wonderful private flyfishing lodge in NW Calif about a 45 min drive from Weed on hwy 3 near Callahan. The area really reminds me of SW Montana with broad open valleys surrounded by beautiful alpine mountains, and just like Mont and Idah...
I see that something has changed on the flow link. It no longer has the historical data and covers an entire year instead of 31 days. Is there any chance we can get back the original link?

Hey Everyone,
I am heading to the creek tomorrow and I was wondering what flies I should bring. I always take some midges along, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend any other flies that I can tie up before I go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
fished 9 hours and got 8 fish 6 planters and 2 wild, one wild was 12 inches other was 16 inches. not great results but after all catching fish is just a bonus. flows are high but not unfishable, gotta concentrate on small areas at a time and be pateint. I found the resort area right below monticello damn ver...
I have fished Putah Creek a number of times. Usually I have used bait however I am also a flyfisherman. I find the waters to be challenging..usually strong flows around the nice rocky areas and some really deep stretches which make wading impossible.
I've fished...
First trip to the creek this year, there were lots of people but everyone got along fine. I took two friends that had never fly fished before one would not listen to advice and got skunked the other guy paid attention and and got his first fish on a fly rod,...
I know it's been over a week, but I fished below the bridge on the evening of May 19th after my last final exam. The final went well and the fishing was okay. It rained the whole time I was there so I wasn't fighting any crowds. I caught two fish, one hatchery and one native. It was...
If anyone lost a trout net (about 16 inches long, shallow dip-net) on Putah, I found one stuck behind a tree right above Lake Salono today. PM me if you lost it, and think it might be yours. Fishing was a little different today, caught 5, missed 3, but they were far between.
Got out for a few hours on Tuesday.
Hooked two nice fish in the riffle below access #5 on a small black zebra midge. Landed one.
Got one more near the split, but was a dink.
Like Yukon Mike - I spent a LOT of time getting the moss off my rig.

Can you wade across the creek to the island (right above Salono) yet? Anyone been having much luck? I cant take this anymore, gonna go hit it up this weekend.
I walked this stream about a month ago and watched a kid catch a salmon 20 to 25 lbs. Its to bad the stream looked like abolsute sh*t. He released it immediately upon landing it. Its unfortunate that young anglers only have poorly keeped creeks like this to fish in . Maybe one day the State wi...
Hey guys,
We had a discussion regarding Cache Creek a while back. I will be out of school in a few days and would normally head to the Sierras, but the flows make that difficult. I was wondering if anyone had been to the upper Cache Creek lately and knows how the flows are there? Or an...
i was curious if anyone has ever had good luck fishing below the solano lake diversion dam. i caught one 12 inch planter down there the other day, i only tried for about 20 mins at the end of my day. someone told me years ago that there were some big browns down there, could this be true? i have had some really...
Hello all,
I am new to this forum and wanted to inquire about the angels camp area. any good streams hosting brookies/brownies in those parts??? Will flow/clarity be a problem in mid June??? I have recently moved from Flagstaff arizona back to the bay, so if anyone needs some good info. for a f...
I know that most of us have other diversions besides flyfishing. Some take a backseat and others don't. I used to fish on average around 75 days a year. No where near that anymore but I have another hobby to blame as well.
My dad used to own an old '61 International Scout. That was my "pop can I borrow th...
I went over to access 5 this morning after seeing that the flows had supposedly dropped to 772 cfs overnight. After having my van broken into in February at the same access, I parked on the highway in plain sight, hoping that it would deter thieves. Unfortunately, that was not the case.&n...
We all read about the unfortunate happenings on the creek, and we should be more aware of where we park, and what we leave in our vehicles. Thanks Doc for info!!!
With that said...How's da fishin..? Anyone fishing out there. I fished up by the resort last weekend and hooked up w...

I checked the flows this morning, they were at 64 cpf! Is this a typo on the website, or did the creek just drop 5 ft? Can anyone confirm this? That is really weird.
Does anyone have a guess as to when the NF of the Yuba will be fishable again? Or the Truckee?
What a bizarre year, hunh?
Hope you're all doing well.
Best,
Pete
Fished on Sunday - find the side channels that have short deep runs and back eddys - hooked 9, landed 8, nothing over 16 inches, 3 natural, 5 planters. Used #10 weighted prince nymph, #16 cream bead headed emerger, #16 tan fox's poopah, caught fish on all 3 with the prince nymph per...
It's nice to see that putah's water levels are declining (slowly), but i'm hoping that since we recieved so much rain this winter/spring, they won't release as much water this summer for farming; maybe summer levels will be more like fall levels this year! Does anyone think this is possible?&...
I go to UC Davis and I was just wondering if anyone knows of any other places to fish while the creek is flooded. I'll fish for anything. Bass, trout, panfish, you name it. Thanks for the help.
You remember this?

I spent the weekend up at the cabin and fished the Yuba Friday and Saturday (@ HWY 20). Friday, when the sun broke through late PM, there was a decent hatch of really small creme and black midge/ gnat looking things. I had no luck on the small stuff but did find a few fresh stone fly husks. I switched over to a...
I headed up to creek to check out the flows yesterday between classes. At 7140 cfs, they were incredible! The creek has since receeded to 6500 cfs. We saw some changes in the areas around the creek with the last high water and I'm sure we'll see many more changes when the flows...
