myself captain and lilwhippersnapper are looking to all go fishing on friday, me and shaun are tryin to figure out where we are gonna go. does anyone know how the current rivers are fishing for trout either bows or browns and also steelies where applicable
the feather river low flow the yuba 3-10 mile out from marysville. pretty much from about hallwood to 5 miles before the rock quary and also the south fork of the american past placerville
also if you know of anyother spots that are about the same distants from sac area up in the sierras or below that are fishin really really good right now for the above mentioned fish. we would all love to get into some steelies and thats really what we are wanting to get into. but if no place is fishin good for steelies we can go else where.
so any advise will be greatly appreciated. thanks
pm either me captain or lilwhippersnapper or just post it thanks brian
hey shaun and eric keep an eye on this post. i should have started one earlier oh well. hope we get some ideas from this post

Ya the yuba it is. As far as fly's goe, check this out i am sure you guys will be able to find somethin that'll work. I couldnt fisgure out how to add a pic to a pvt. message so check out my collection.
well we was until about 15 mins ago when he emailed me back. i did some major research and calling around today at work, i have about a full page of notes, for the rivers we was lookin at fishing. i then took those notes that was on a full page and shortened them up and sent them to shaun. he knows the yuba farely well, and if you read the pm i sent you i kinda explained the yuba right now.
dont get me wrong the feather is fishing good right now. the fish are in the system. just need to find them. not to many salmon so you find the salmon you will find the steelies and trout. just rememeber cant fish upstream of the 70 bridge. but ya the feather is decent right now.
the american fishing very well for half pounders right now the whole legth of the river. again not to many salmon in the river. but half pounders are pounding. from nimbus damn all the ya to the sac. if anyone wants to do this trip next week say friday let me know. i know a few nice spots that we can try, and the american is pretty much my back yard. you got above hazel bridge that is very good, cant fish at or below hazel until you hit the guide wire that goes across. but after that is really good, sailors bar is good. above watt ave is good above howe ave is good. again the whole river is fishing well for half pounders and dont be suprised if you hook into a 2-6 lber either.
so eric to let you know we are hittin up the yuba river. bring you gear and a walkin stick if you have one. i think ill make one just for this trip, so i dont keep fallin on my ass or in the water like i have been.

looks like someone is gettin ready for some trout and steelies. i am gonna go home tonight and clean and condition my line, what is good to use by the way as far as house hold cleaners and what not. i have dry fly floatant which i put on after cleaning but anything good out there. but ya will do that, clean and condition the lines, clean and grease up the reels and be ready to go on thurdsay morning.

Good question I need to clean my lines. I'll use a little dish soap and a rag i guess. I'll also be using a sinktip a little bit. I also have a 6 foot sinktip you can add to your floating line if thats the ticket. I'm thinkin start out with a red copper john with an egg dropper. we all should use something different to find whats working, And a nice fat stimulator tied up on my 4 weight, But i'll be using the 6 weight mostly unless we get rises. I'll bring an extra 6 weight incase anyone needs it. Alright man, I'm locked ****ed and ready to rock, Just need to stop and get one more batch of fly's. In theory the trout should be setup behind the salmon redds and eating eggs. It's gonna be freakin awesome baby . FISH ON !
Eric get some globugs/ egg patterns. Other then that its pretty much the basic stuff i think, prince nymphs, gold ribbed hairs ears, pheasant tails, and yellow stonefly nymphs, I have a **** load of midges so dont even bother buying em, copper johns are also good. I also like to use some larger rubber legged nymphs. Haha, yeah bring your walkin sticks boys we gonna be fishin till dark.
hells ya i am stocked as well. ill have my 6wt ready to go, hey shaun you actually gonna have the 4wt set up, or what. i was just thinkin of bringin it in my backpack, but if you are gonna have it set up, then i will as well, i have a ok amount of dries ready to go. so if thats what you are going to do, i will do that as well with my st croix

Dude i am no expert but i'd get a selection of more like 14 to 18's. This aint putah we dont have to go tiny up there. I'd bring a backpack if you guys can, gonna need to bring something to eat and drink, cause i think once we leave the car we wont be going back. A long cold hungry thirsty day would really suck.
