drifted the feather down to palms today with my friend ryan...got in the water around 7:30...on ryans first drift he wacked an adult steelhead..while he was busy bossing his trophy around I punched out my first cast and wack! 8" steelhead...Safe to say his was way bigger...we had a few spectators on the bank so we slammed 3 more juveniles in 3 dirfts...moved down to the next riffle and waded a bit..wack ,wack ,wack.....a few more juvenile steelies some dinky ones and a 27" hen....only saw a few other guys on the water and the good old fish and game counting dead stinky salmon...speaking of salmon I have notice this years run is small and we have not had a second push of fish yet...It has effected the egg bite on the lower sac and Iam sure it will effect other rivers as well... I am super pumped from today..I had 4 adults, a dozen juvies and some dinks and thats not counting the ones ryan put the smack on...Got 2 more days set a side for more steelies next week...going to do the drift at red bluff and mabe head back to the feather....
yee ha ...got to see my backing a few time today....
If anyone wants to set a up a drift trip on the lower sac , yuba, feather or trinity I have a few very good friends who guide those waters...some months book out a year in advance so if your interested in a trip I can put you in touch....
the feather is fishing very well right now, from why 70 bridge where you can start fishing the low flow all the way past the after bay. all great fishing right now.
