Does anyone here have any experience fishing in Michigan, or have any information about it? Is there was any good fly-fishing near Ann Arbor? Thank you for your help.
was curious when do the high summer flows normally start to come down to say 400 or less. these flows and this heat is making fishing rather diffucult !
Got onto the creek around 6:00 PM. Decent hatch of small yellow bodied mayflies and some bigger peach colored caddis with green bodies. Took a sample of insects with my kick-net and found mostly small mayfly nymphs, tiny midge larvae, and a few larger green caddis larvae....
Up in Angels camp right now and just finished the middle fork...DYNAMITE!!! I produced a bunch of nice browns(10-14 in.) and a rainbow~7in. in only a couple of hours. fished the North fork last night and caught some nice bows(12in) and a brown(7in). SOur grass CG was the ac...
Another beautiful evening on the creek. My favorite new hole has been producing on the dry/dropper combination. Caught 5 or 6 decent fish - all wild (biggest 14 inches) on the dropper and 2 or 3 more on the dry, including a nice football right at dark.
E/C caddis with a midge pupa d...
Have been fishing the creek lately mostly up near the resort on the resort side of the river and mainly in the evenings, its been fishing decent with periods of real hot action.Yesterday I fished for less than 2 hours and landed 8 fish and lost 3.One fish about yanked the rod out of my hand, and fought like...
I am interested in purchasing a new 15 hp four stroke boat motor for my 13 ft aluminum boat. The motor may also be used as a kicker for a larger Crestliner that I may be purchasing later this year. Does anyone have any advice on which brand motor I should buy?
the 28th i was fishing a spot just before the 30 mile and hour left hand turn before canyon creek. i caught a 22 inch 3.5 lb native rainbow on the 28th on a gold/red kastmaster. on the 29th i caught 3 planter/farm fish a little upstream from the "y" or split. last weekend i was fishing ne...
Got out to the creek around 6:30 PM today.
Had the best day I've had on the creek in some time. Having just come back from a trip up north (Oregon rivers and the Upper Sacramento), I was of a mind to stick with Dry flies as nymphing putah can be such a hassle with all the brush on the banks and al...
Fished the upper sac on the way home from Oregon last night (july 4th).
Got on the river at 5:00 and fished til dark. Killed it on all kinds of dry's and a few takes on various droppers (caddis poopah and micro may).
Golden stones, yellow and oranges stimulators, and may fly variants were good...
had an ok day seven fish landed all about 12 inchers all but one wild, wich is very surprising, i found one back eddy just loaded with wild rainbows, i recently started to really fish back eddys alot and i must say they seem to produce well, but they take pateince, still looking for my first putah brownie,...
There is an excellant dry fly bite on the lower Yuba above Hwy 20 right now. Flows are perfect. Gin clear. Small window of opportunity though. The fish only hit between 6:00 -7:30 PM but they are huge. Most in the 25-28" range. The fish are very poor however. It was a pity to see such huge fish that had no wei...
Fished the Pit near Big Bend Saturday. The stay at the hot springs (clothing not an option) was nice but fishing was so so. Hooked around 30 fish with largerst pushing 17" but most around 8" or so.
Water is getting too warm and wouldn't recommend anybody fishing that area until later in the eyar when...
i have hammered away for endless hours trying to get a brownie out of that creek and im beginning to wonder just how many are in there. can anyone give some advice on spots to try? and the type of spots that they tend to like, i assume they must like a different type of water then im used to catching the rainbo...
Fellow Anglers,
Do any of you fish in Solano for rainbows and browns? If so what are the secerts? Sinking line? Fall River Long drifts with floating line anchored up? Do most go up to the mouth of Putah to start fishing? Never have fished the lake but thought it might be a goo...
fished right side of bridge (dam side) fished both days for about 3 hours..hooked about ten or so..all planters..using wolly buggers....caught most on olive and one on brown....
headed up to the reasort area with my buddy mike at about 10:30 today and ended up doing pretty well. we hooked about 15 and landed 11. when we first arived i hooked probably the biggest and hardest fighting rainbow i've ever hooked in the creek. i had it on for about 10 minutes and it stayed down and pulled...
I broke out my float tube and headed up to Lake Solano yesterday. I landed three rainbows: a 17 incher on a damselfly nymph, and two typical hatchery fish, one on a Griffith's Gnat and the other on a #22 midge pupa. I hooked a couple of others but lost them.
I saw a few otters an...
I took my wife up to central Oregon last summer for her first "real" fishing trip. She is hooked! She landed a 6lb Brook from Hosmer Lake, a hog bow from craine prairie and over 100 dinks on the upper deschutes.
I have fished Putah a few times but not too much success. is there any spots where she wont have...
Speaking of browns, on Friday 6/16 I went out in the afternoon when it was 104 degrees, at about 3pm. I hooked into a monster brown! I had the sucker on for about 20 minutes and just couldn't land him. He didnt start to come to the surface tell the end, and I say he cause when he came to the surface he h...
I've noticed that there are quite a few waterboatmen and backswimmers in Lake Solano and the slower areas on the creek. Does anyone know of any good patterns to imitate them? I'm sure the fish would tear 'em up.
I see where a lot of folks view this site, but how come no one has anything to discuss or share ? Is it because we either fish Putah Creek or one of the local lakes/resevoirs and there really isn't much to talk about ?
I realize a lot of good trout fishing can be had up north and that we all are limited in terms...
fished last friday landed 4 lost 7, dont know why I lost so many fish just one of those days. Second time fishing the creek. Hooked 3 very nice nice fish. Had two fish come up and hit my indicator so decided to throw on an egg patern same color as my indicator(bright orange) immediately hooked 3 fish lost...
I fished the creek today for a couple of hours. I don't think that I have ever had such a bad landed/hooked ratio. I hooked 8 fish but only landed 2: one a little hatchery fish, the other a 14 inch football. I thought the one was a lot bigger because of how fat he was. ...
I was up at Putah for the first time a little while back and ran into a couple of fly fishermen who told me I couldn't fish from the bridge to the dam, that only members of the resort can fish that stretch. So I turned around and ran into another guy who told me I couldn't fish downstream from the bridge...
I am a beginnig fly fisherman and have learned a lot from reading all of the posts from everyone at this website. As a new father I don't get to go out as often as I would like, and when I am not working on weekends I have been visiting my in-laws in Nevada City. Any information I could get about this area would...
Fished below the bridge early, with the flows where they are a lot of weight is needed to get the bugs in the feeding lanes. Landed two nice fish both 18"-20" (putah footballs) and failed to land a few others. Usual suspects...micro mayflies , pts, and hairs ears. Outnumbered by spin fisherman 5...
Has anyone fished the Middle Fork of Stony Creek north of Clear Lake? I was reading about it on the DFG website and was wondering if it is worth a trip.
