yes i also lost a fly box yesterday as well as breaking 1/2" off my bottom half of my rod. if someone does find that black case, please let me know, there are about 4 flies that were just thrown in there and they still have some tippet material still attached to them, all similar flies are placed together. 90% are some type of nymph, has 2 red san juans, 2 cdc emergers, prince nymphs sizes 20,18 and 14, have a few pheastant tails, a lot of jts midge patterns, i can just about name every fly and size in that box, so if anyone finds it let me know.

Brian, that really sucks. I hope someone comes up with your box. I wish I would have been looking for it before I left. Sorry.

Lots of talk about the flows today.

This is my first season on Putah, but everybody's been talking about how this was coming.  I've been watching the flow on the USGS website.  Thanks to whoever posted it before.  It's not a webcam, but its still a fix when your chained to the desk and computer.
http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=11454000&agency_cd=USGS

I've seen it dropping but wasn't sure what to expect.  Got there today and found it interesting.  Fish were real spooky.  They could be found, but not if they found you first!  Got hard takes in calm pools, but once the pool was spooked, DONE.

Started fishing Putah in August, flows were tough for me to handle.  End of September started getting the hang of it. Now ... as someone else put it, the fish of all sizes are stacking up wherever they are able.  Just means more to learn.  Sunday was good to me, but I did find a place where fish were holding.

I hit em with tons ... to sift thru what worked... for me ... 18 FB PT, 18 & 20 prince, got HARD takes but couldn't handle on 18 tan and olive fox poopah, had tugs on 18 & 20 CDC emerger and cripple.  I've got a favorite that popped today too, but I don't know what the heck its called. Small 18/20, purple plastic bead head, some feather and green sparkle to body, poopah like thorax ... it's been a  good one for me ... got it from a friend at a local shop.

I'm sure its right, The flows can change quickly, I have had days were you can easily tell that the flows have increased or decreased during a day of fishing. I can easily tell a difference of even just 10 cfs.

When the flows are around 600 cfs, I can't tell when they change by 10 cfs.  When they're super low, you can definitely tell the difference.

Of course ya cant tell with higher flows but with these flows its pretty easy to see when it changes. Few weeks ago was  fishing a spot, getting an ok drift, left, came back a few hours later and it was like still fishin.
