From a quick glance, Lower Putah Creek extendeing from below the Lake Solano diversion dam all the way to the sink hole in the marsh seems to falls under Article 2: District General Regulations for the Valley District (all Solano and Yolo County): (3) All strems except anadromous waters and those lis...

No New Posts Flows (Preview)
From what I uderstand they had moved the flows up to help with the salmon spawning, but now they have reduced them to below 60 cfs. Does anyone know the reasonong for this?? Also at 60 cfs isn't that going to put some of the trout redds high and dry??

No New Posts NZ mudsnails vanishing? (Preview)
Is it just me or does it seem like the snails are dissapearing?  I remember seeing them covering every rock in the creek.  Now I haven't been seeing any.  Can these things die out on their own?

No New Posts FYI the creek is barbless. (Preview)
As I wrapped up my last session out at the creek for the next few months. I was crossing back across the creek and grabbed on to a branch and caught a handful of flies in my hand! Ouch, not to mention they still hand the brabs on them... Shame on you whoever didn't pinch down the barbs... It was not fun to pull a...

No New Posts Hello, and a quick question (Preview)
Hi everyone.  I new to the creek and your forum and wanted to say hello.  I have had good luck the few times I've been up to the creek, and I would like to get out as much as possible in the next couple weeks before the fish (and I) start to get busy.   On that note, I have a question about brown trout.  Since dayl...

No New Posts Creek Cleanup back on for Saturday (Preview)
Hey everyone: the Cleanup was canceled by FFD due to rain in the forecast for Saturday. However, it will go on without the food and drink and be sponsored by our group. So plan to come out in your rain gear and go fishing afterward-the creek is fishing real well. We can also do a quick survey for redds/spaw...

Poll I must stink! Is it my tippet? (Preview)
I've been going to the Putah roughly once a week for a month now.  Skunked x4.   I'm a bit discouraged.  I'm trying #18 dark bead head nymphs behind a leading fly of various configurations - small san juan worm, wooly worms. Mostly I've been dead drifting with an indicator.  I'm using 4 or 5x 9' leaders on...

No New Posts Putah gives it up in the Fall! (Preview)
Probably not what you were expecting, but I thought I'd mix it up a bit before the shananigans start up again.  Caught these feisty little bass in Davis after work yesterday.

No New Posts Putah Creek Trout Gazette Vol 1 (Preview)
Hi there forum members: Fishing is picking up, if you don't mind small fish. Reports are that multiple hook ups are the rule, although many of the fish are going airborne on the set. Rumor has it that Shon is hogging his hole again-another good sign that fishing is getting better. Flows should be coming...

No New Posts Lost Sage rod 10/30 (Preview)
Partly world Series, partly rushing and mostly just boneheaded stupid I lost my Sage rod and Ross reel while at putah saturday 10/30 evening.  If anybody comes across it or someone talking of finding a rod would dearly love to have it back.  It was a gift from a friend.

So for years my dad and I used to fish the Pit River in the summer months. But that was when we lived closer. After moving to the Davis area years ago we took up trolling Lake Berryessa and spinner rods were not any good on the Putah.  He's been fly fishing mostly the American and Yuba and Feather for the past...

Flows took a major dive today.  Droped from around 200 to 39 in a few days, Thats friggin ridiculose ! I assume its the normal lame excuse "flows drop so they can clean out the canals around the diversion dam".

Hi all, my name is Chris. Im a new member here and was hoping to get some info on fishing Putah. Form research and sources, Ive seen the bigger fish enter the river with the spawn, though I usually won't fish spawning fish if I can avoid it. Currently the flows are around 200 CFS, and seem to be dropping bit b...

No New Posts The "Other" Putah Creek (Preview)
My largest to date (18"): I am finding alternating above (trout) and below (pikeminnow) the dam to be quite enjoyable.  In truth, the Pikeminnows are more "fun" at this point because I can get them to hit just about anything I throw at them I broke in my new fly rod set up; 8'6" St Cl...

So last week I was able to sneak away for a little fishing.  What I didn't realize was I was going to come home a week later with one less friend.  My old girl, Brown and a little banged up would not be making another trip for the rest of her life.  It's crazy to think how many trips and fish we had seen together...

Hi board members, I'm a recent transplant from WA and was thinking of planning a quick day trip to putah with my significant other.
