Was up at Putah on 01/02/2012 and fished access 3 for a few minutes then left and went down to 4. Came up with goose eggs..for the day! Oh well it's gotta happen every now and then.
After I quit fishing, I went upstream and took some photos of the redds, couldn't actually take any pictures of the fish, the lighting was making it difficult.
Figured I'd share a photo in case anyone cared to see.
No problem. Took some video today, don't know if I should post it up here or not, certainly don't want to encourage those outside of this forum by what they may see.
I was at a fly shop in sac a couple weeks back getting some hooks and looking for a whip finisher ive seen that has scissors on the back (pretty cool). The guy asked where I was tying for. I said I was just replenishing for the summer hatches. He asked where I was from, I told him winters. He pulled out a whole set of printed out pics of his guides on putah from the day before. The pictures were of twenty- twenty five inch spawning fish. My friend was in this store last year and told the guy (around this time of year) that we were going to go up to the creek. He told my friend that it was unethical to fish to spawners, and then whipped out the same type of pictures. Not sure if the guide in question is from this shop but interesting facts nonetheless.
Shame shame... But not suprising. Ugh.. When will this ever end? I bet when the creek gets closed in the winter this will all end. Wishfully thinking on my part.
The fly shop I'm talking about is advertising putah as "the spot to catch big fish right now" they have a picture up from putah of a fish that must be pushing 25 inches. What are 25 inch fish doing up there right now?
