I was hanging out at a local fishery last weekend, and was surprised by a warden??? He hiked into the canyon to check my license I guess.... Anyways he checked license and hooks. He decided one hook was not pinched down enough. He asked if I had pliers... I gave him my flat tipped pliers and he pinch...
I haven't been on the Yuba since November. Sounds like some are having good days reading the latest entries. This winter has not been good to me so its my first time out this year at all. Anyone have anything else as far as how its fishing? Thx Brett
The lure of the Lower Yuba got me again. I made an early morning decision to head up to the Lower Yuba on Friday. The flows were over 2300, Deer Creek was at 119 CFS, meaing the Lower Yuba was probably muddy. There was a chance of rain. I decided the hell with it, I had to run up. Worst that could happen w...
I currently have a Pioneer AVH-P5700dvd In Dash touch screen deck plus ipod interface adapter that I am selling. April 10-12. Heading out Saturday late afternoon for Pyramid Lake. Fish Pyramid all day Sunday then head out Monday morning and fish the Little Truckee on the way home. Short quick trip but there should be many LARGE fish to be caught!
Has anyone had a chance to fish the East Carson, T or LT lately? I'm heading up that way this weekend and was hoping to mix in some fishing on the EC with some skiing.
Starting with TODAY. Friday the 19th. A tailwater near the town of clements surprised me with over 30 fish between me and my brother. Most fishes were 6-12 inchers. I had 2 that were 16 inches or so. No measure net. All I gotta say is, that place is burning hot right now. Strike wise, and tempurature wise....
Anybody try these hooks out? My buddy got them at the Pleasanton show. Barbless tying hooks from Sweden I think? These are the scud czech nymph model. The are also slightly off center like a gama octopus. Pretty cool.
I want to get a date set for our "Informational Posse" to get the word out on the new year round Catch and Release regulations at Putah. My idea is to mix up a day of creek walking with fishing, and pass the word out while we hit the river. This will be done on a completely informational basis...
I picked up a used rod a while ago, it has the Sage logo on it and the description is "9' for 6 or 7 lines" and matching tube with the same markings. There is no serial number. Anyone know anything about old Sage rods? I'm just trying to figure out what it is. It's built on a gray blank tha...
I know this should be in the for sale section but it gets little traffic. I've finally decided to get rid of my hardware gear since it's not been used for a while and will continue to sit there. I've got crank baits, spinner baits, plastic baits, trolling gear, powerbait, filet knife, etc. The whole tack...
I guess this doesn't really fit anywhere, certainly not here . . . but did anyone else recognize how sparse the vendor attendance was at The Fly Fishing Show this year? Two years ago, there were 2 exhibit halls, this year only one. Sage, Orvis, WInston, Powell, Ross and I think even Simms and Patagoni...

Hi everyone, does anyone have experience on the East Walker or Hot Creek, I 've got family that is planning a trip out here and want take them there. Is it best to go in May or later in the year? I saw a program at the Pleasanton Fly show that said May was a great time for cuthrout, I want the visiting folks to ha...
Ok This is my first ever tube fly. It was inspired by a article in Fly tyer mag. The tube is from a Q Tip. The tube vice attachment is a 4D finishing nail that I cut the head off of and flattened with a hammer. I think it all went pretty well for the first pass, I wanted more olive in the hackle area but used what I h...
Went to the Trinity River with Brian and his friend James and it was a slow day but there was a nice hatch that was coming off and so i throw a caddis dry fly on and landed my first brownie on a dry file.

Today I ran into this article at work, and figured it's relevant given the sticklebacks in Putah:Stickleback Genomes Shining Bright Light on Evolutionhttp://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/02/100225214757.htmBiologists discovered a specific region of genes involved in the genomi...
I was fishing one of our valley tailwaters this weekend and discovered its full of small light olive scuds. So I was curious does anyone use scud patterns locally ? I've never really gave them much thought, But I will now. Anybody have any favorite scud patterns ?
Its going to be prime time to hit the Trinity next week, not only with the fresh rains, but there is a lot of fish throughout the system. Right now there are a few of us going and would like to get a few more to go as well. We will be splitting all costs from gas to food, including the house we will be staying in f...
