Im headed up to Redbluff monday and tuesday. I hear the lower Sac runs though it. I have never fished it. Can anyone give me some pointers on flies and where to enter the river? I will be wadding of course. Thanks for any input.
Wading is tough . . . not lots of spots for that, but one of the spots is right under the big fancy bridge in downtown Redding. It hasn't been wadable until lately as the flows have been higher this year. But those who brave the long wade out, are often successful.
Just above the cowboy grounds launch ramp there is a deep run which the guides often paddle back up to after they launch. It can be reached from shore, but there may be two much brush and obstructions . . . check it out.
Also try google for "wading the lower sac" , . . . you never know.

Wet and wild!
Best flows for wading are under 6000cfs, 3500 or under are necessary for my height. Lance Gray just published a guide to wading in the latest California Flyfisher magazine. Past years issues have also had guides.
Yea I went to the sundial bridge in redding. saw a couple salmon and no one catching anything until the sun was setting, then the caddis came out. Got a couple rises from big fish and only one hook up with a 20" bow on a dry. Id say not too bad for a couple hrs of fishing.
