I was out last week and I saw some guys fishing with sin rods, so I watched to see if they were using bait. It looked like they were using artificial eggs, but the rubber powerbait type not a yarn type. Is it legal to use rubber bait? What if it has a scent? I took a photo of the truck with the license plate showi...

Just wondering if anyone ever fishes Putah Creek that feeds Berryessa?  I haven't ever been up there to see it for myself but I figured kokenee probably run up there to spawn and possibly a few rainbows.  I think I am going to go check it out this week depending on the weather.  Any info would be great.

No New Posts report (Preview)
Fished in rain yesterday; vis is very low and fish are hiding. Saw one fish about 10" hit my 3/4" thingamobober, so I switched to egg pattern. No fish caught between me and my brother. If you do fish Putah careful of the skunks...they are everywhere.

No New Posts Spawn is about over (Preview)
A survey being conducted on the creek by DFG and PCT indicates the spawn is about over. But that does not mean its safe to wade in the tailouts and other redd areas. After fertilization, the eggs are at risk to crushing boot treads for 45-50 days afterward. That means its another month, until April, befo...

No New Posts Summary results from the online angler survey (Preview)
Summary results for the first three years of the online angler survey are posted below. Assigning significance to the data obtained from angler surveys is usually difficult from a science standpoint. That said, it is still an important tool for DFG's evaluation of the fishery.  2008: 1002  Fish, 3...

No New Posts Flows (Preview)
Ive been watching the flows for sometime now, and they have been fluctuating between 120 and 65. I know there are no more salmon coming up the rivers, so what is the reasoning behind the 2 days at 120 then 2 days at 65, then back up again. Its been doing this since Jan 8th.

Its worth repeating that the whole length of the creek from Monticello Dam to the tip of the island below Access 5 is where  the special regs (year around barbless, artificials only, take) are in effect. Lake Solano is being enforced under a 5 fish limit, bait can be used, interpretation of the reg. O...

I am primarily a kayak fish, but I also fly fish Putah.  On occassion I like to paddle Lake Solano if not only to get outside and L.S. is close.  I have a fish finder on my yak and have been really surprised by how much of a wasteland L.S. has become in terms of fish.  Obviously the stocking is what held up the p...

I have been pondering this question recently. Why choose to go to a creek, river or lake with rod and reel in hand?
