Looks like the flows are down to 125. Anyone out on the creek today? I bet crossing is a lot easier.

Flows are down and the crossing is indeed easier.

Met RGLoft and Coolbee at 2 different points on the river.  At the first one, Coolbee pointed out several pre-spawn monster fish in a shallow riffle about 30 ft up from where I was fishing the pool.  FYI, as an experiment I threw a couple of casts at the pre-spawners and had a take, but no hookup on the second cast.  After that I packed up and left, but had the feeling that those fish are going to get brutalized as they are in shallow water and highly visible, plus they appear to be taking flies.  IMO, we shouldn't be targeting them and I appreciate RGL and Coolbee making an effort to educate the fishermen they meet on the river.

At the second point down river, I got into a great riffle just before RGL and Coolbee arrived.  RGL was really great in helping me land a good fish (I left my net in the car) so he deserves to be in the picture.

Flows down and will stay down, prespawn on, large fish moving out of safe harbor areas which are now much shallower. Every fish over 14" is a possible spawner in the next month thru January. I had a good day fishing riffles today that a week ago held fish 20" and up at 300 cfs, now its all small fish at 125 cfs. Time for me (personally) to shut it down after the best fall fishing in recent years and for PCT to start building some gravel beds. Consider giving it a rest yourself after Dec 1 til end of January.
