There's a dark green full size pickup with a shell and lumber rack and tons of Fly-Fishing stickers on the back which has been parked under a big tree on the northwest side of the bridge? Sarah and I saw it yesterday and I was thinking it has been there a few days now--could someone have hiked in and gotten h...
I seem to have lost another fly box while fishing at access 5 . I think it may have floated down river as I looked for it today and did not see it . If found please let me know thanks . Richard from Napa 707 294-4738

It seems to me with drought projecting into the future, it doesn't make sense to see the current release pattern. I understand that demand drives the releases but it seems shortsighted... The median release for today should be ~270 and here we are at 360! There goes the storage for the future.... Of c...
I'm novice to the fly (only FF ~1-2x a year). I've fished Putah a few times in the past, never with any luck. Well, I'm going to give it a try next Tuesday. If anyone (new or experienced) would like to meet up, let me know. I'd love to learn from someone. Thanks, Joe
Many 6-8 inch fish which to me is a good sign for the fishery. Red midge nymphs and wd-40s did the trick. I suspect I wasn't getting deep enough to reach the bigger fish, but who knows. Anyone else have days like this?
Thanks to whoever found my son's sunglasses and left them on the kiosk at the bridge parking lot. He was very happy to get them back. (so was I!) Philip PS. Fishing was really fun today (9/28).
I lost a Folstaf wading staff today on the river near the parking lot at #3, or maybe slightly upstream of it. If anyone finds it, please message me. Thanks! On another note, a friend and I each caught around a half dozen or so fish, primarily on midges. All on the smaller side, maxing out around 8-9 inc...
I have an old video called "Successful Flyfishing Strategies" that I took out of the closet and re-watched a few days ago. In the video Gary LaFontaine made what I think is a very important observation. While holding a small trout, he said that if you cup your palm so as not to touch the fish’s...
Greetings to all: Summer is winding down and the volunteer opportunities on the Creek will start to pick up. Our first opportunity is Saturday September 20 when we do our annual cleanup of the interdam reach Between Fish Access 5 and the highway 128 bridge. Please mark your calendars and plan to spe...
Did 2 days of surf fishing last weekend. Unfourtenitly I was bait fishing. The surf was pretty intense, Flyrod wasn't going to work. It's pretty cool fishing. I got a few surf perch, and a few little rockfish. Anyone flyfish in the surf ?
Hey, guys and girls. I am a fly fisherman from Arkansas who is visiting Napa Valley the first week of September. We have trout hatcheries here that are very productive (Little Red River and the White/Norfork Rivers) and I've only ever fished those waters. However, I am VERY interested in going out to...
planning a trip to Milton at the end of July and was wondering if anyone has been there lately? any report? any fly suggestions? sizes? I'll probably bring my fly tying box, so just wondering what you guys typically use and what size so I can be prepared?
Just finished 2 weeks of fishing in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, my annual trip. Fished the South Fork of the Snake in Swan Valley Idaho, the Snake River in Jackson Wyoming, the Green River in Pinedale Wyoming, 3 days on the Boulder River east of Bozeman Montana and the Jefferson river near Ennis Montan...
Between the corduroy fur and feathers float. High elevation, head dizzy. Four strips of cane, sudden rise in the bucket, full of authority, him, hooked and run. Me, rock hop, balanced, from the Gap back.http://tonysalpenglow.blogspot.com/2014/08/quadra-ku-8-16-2014.html
My buddy finally retired. We'll be heading up to his Dunsmuir cabin next week to fish the Upper Sacto and other rivers. Any body been up north lately? Any info would be appreciated.
You wouldnt believe me if I didnt have a picture to prove it , This thing was pretty tame it came over to the waters edge and wanted to say hi but when I went to scratch him on the forhead he just bit me . Little fricken bratt
Rmacneil656 I went out again this past weekend. Carp are super active right now. Maybe next time I'll tie up some carp patterns. We did the float again and didn't kill it in the numbers but didnt do too bad. For everyone who wants to fish the spawners for trophies, there's no need if you explore and play ar...
looking for a Sage RPL 4100, but would be tempted by anything 9' or longer. Someone must have one gathering dust, right?? There's no water anyway...you might as well turn it loose. thanks for for any help...Mike
In case anyone wonder after the last time, Floating the creek went well. There were some spots that needed to be walked through, but you can cover a lot of water.
It's been a while since I've logged in here. I hadn't even fished for over a year until this past Saturday. I was able to sneak away for a few hours, and thankfully the creek didn't disappoint. There was a lot more vegetation than I remember (both on the banks and in the creek), but that didn't stop the f...
