Hi fellow fly fishermen (and women), would someone please tell me where the private water section of the resort extends to? Is it clearly marked? Thank you. -- Edited by Greybeard on Thursday 6th of October 2016 02:12:19 PM
I was fishing this weekend near the bridge and noticed a white blob moving upstream and realized it was a fish. I tried my best and gave it some really good drifts without any success. Just wondering if any of you have caught that trout? I am so curious to see what was going on with it.
For unknown reasons flows were dropped in a few hours overnight to 55 cfs. Fishing is likely to be terrible until they are brought back up. Expect Winter flow levels (75-100 cfs) to be the norm within 2 weeks.
Hi Everyone! I've been fishing/learning Putah Creek for the last year or so. Yesterday was my personal best. From dawn to dusk I hooked about 15 in the 6-12" range. Half of those I got in the net. About 5:30 I tied into my biggest Putah Rainbow yet (see pic). What a beautiful fish to end an absolutely...

Hello, just curious if any of you will be fishing this weekend knowing that rain is in the forecast? Do you think it'll be enough rain to blow out the creek? Cheers
So, I fished Tuesday and Friday this week and caught a bunch of bows each day between 6-14" fairly consistently on similar patterns. Toward the end of the day Friday, I used a slightly different pattern after losing my "good" flies, (within like 5 casts I lost 4 flies - I'm an idiot) and I landed 2 of the n...

My buddy and I decide to make a quick trip to PC last weekend. We got on the water around 4:00. Started around access #3 and quickly picked up a few small (12") bows on midges and micro mays. As it started getting towards dusk we started seeing fish heads popping. I didn't take the time to put on a tapered lea...

Put my rod on top of my car at the parking lot just past the bridge. Came home and realized it was gone. Any chance someone found it and picked it up? I drove back and it wasn't in the parking lot. Thank you.
Finally caught a few on the challenging Putah! 3 landed, 2-3 others on but lost, one was probably the biggest I've ever had on. Huge thanks to a guys I've seen out there the last few days who have given a newbie some great tips: Sun, Jim, Richard, guy in blue shirt. Love the Putah Creek fly fishing communit...

My pal from the down the street, Mike Swaney, aka "Bernard" is seriously guiding again. if you're interested in catching stripers and trout in the same trip or just stripers, you should hire him to float the river. Mike's been fishing the Stanny for like 30 years and is acquainted with each striper o...
The first photo is a fish landed on the first cast. Really just a set up cast that I let drift out and Bam! A few casts later was a smaller fish about 17". The BWOs were popping. S and M nymphs. Before the S and M this time of year the best fly was a size 20 micro may. The micro may takes a lot longer to tie, so...
