No New Posts Need Delta bass guide recommendation (Preview)
My brother is visiting in early May for a week and is a big bass fisherman.  We're planning on exploring the Delta, but I don't have much expereince with that water.  I'd like to hire a guide for a day or two, but my brother being a gear fisherman might complicate matters.   Anyone know a Delta bass guide wh...

No New Posts South Fork of the American (Preview)
Hey all, Anyone know if it's too early to fish the South Fork of the American along highway 50? I'm looking for a place to bring my girlfriend (a beginner fly fisher) where the fish are tiny and numerous but there's some dry fly action before the spring runoff. We did well at Putah this past weekend but we'...

No New Posts Natives (Preview)
So I was just reading the new edition of TU mag and there is a great article on golden trout in there.  It got me wondering about true natives versus wild fish that are born into a river like Putah.  How many species are from California?  Curious to see some of your answers.

No New Posts Flows on the Lower Stan (Preview)
The fish frenzy party is over...  Flows on the Lower Stan are up to 1300 cfs. 250 to 1300 in less than a week.  The fish are probably now spread out all the way down to Oakdale.  It was fun for three months though.

No New Posts Just booked 4 days camping in June at McArthur Burney State Park (Preview)
Never been up that way before and I'm really looking forward to it.  I'll have the whole family in tow, including the in-laws from LA, which means there'll be lots of babysitters and potential fishing time. Where are the "must fish" spots?  I don't mind driving an hour or so to get to good fis...

No New Posts Can anyone suggest a place that rents rustic cabins? (Preview)
My woman asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday in March. The obvious answer was to fly fish. In order to make the experience inclusive, I came up with the idea of a cabin located on a trout stream. Can anyone suggest a place with simple cabins on a stream/river that holds trout? Send me a PM if you don't...

I found a box on the yuba today and would be happy to return it to the owner. PM me and give a accurate discription and we can meet. No name or phone number on it. I wrote my info on my boxes as soon as I got home. We should all do this.

No New Posts Pit River (Preview)
I fished the Pit river last Tuesday and did very well.  Most fish are in the 16 to 18 inch range.  The hardest fighting fish that I have come across.  The river is high but the fish are in there and there are very few fisherman.  If you go, bring a good wading staff as the rocks are very slippery and there are n...

No New Posts Lower Stan Report (Preview)
Two buddies and I fished the Stanislaus below Goodwin Dam yesterday, Jan. 2.  Weather was decent for January, not too cold and the sky was overcast.  Flows were in the 300+ zone, a little high for this time of year, but definitely fishable.  Fishing was a little crowded in the prime spots, so if you're...

A very long time ago I wanted to fish the Russian River for Steelhead.  This is the year to start.  I was told to use shooting heads and swing the flies. What flies work? Can you nymph? Where is the best place to start. When do the Steelhead make there run? Thanks Dave

Made it all the way up to the Trinity only to catch a handful of smolts and a 8" brown.  The big fish were definitely there, as well as huge crowds of both wading and boat anglers.  Had a big fella on for a split second and lost him as soon as he rocketed upstream and into the air.  There were alot of salmo...

No New Posts Rainy Day (Preview)
Went for a little drive in the rain yesterday for an itch to do some fishing on my favorite river, and it paid off well. For the most of the time it was raining but there were a few breaks through out the day. I was set on this river for a certain hatch but the cold weather kept them sleeping but midges and an epi...
