Years ago the Vacaville Fiesta days was always around the hight of the shad run for the Feather river. Anybody been out to the Feather; Shanghi or Thermolito?

Shad are in the Feather. Most spots you will need a boat or a spinning rod. There is another river you fish nearby that wading is easier. Good reports on Kienes that there is a good run on the American as well. I haven't been out, but may give one of these rivers a shot this weekend.
The Russian River had been fishing slow for shad until the last week. It has picked up significantly. Yesterday evening I got 15 small to medium males in 2.5 hrs with a lot of missed grabs. On Monday most of the fish were large hot females up to 23". Over the last week I've averaged about 4 fish per hour or around 10 per trip.
The great part is that the fishing pressure is really light. Ironically, it was crowded when it was slow and now that many have given up you can have your pick of spots.
