The PCT Fundraiser was this past Saturday, in fantasioc weather at Lake Solano Nature Center. Steve Karr should be applauded for doing a mountain of work on the group's behalf once again. There were lots of munchies, some nice wine to taste (especially the Davis Family 2008 Russian River Chardonn...
My close freind and his son are getting started in the fly fishing arena and they both need wading staffs is anybody out there interested in selling either one or two staffs? thanks Greg "Bono" Bonovich
It's time for the annual camping & fishing trip with my nephews and once again the rivers are raging. My usual spots are blown out and I'm hoping to find something in the rts 4, 108, or 120 corridors, but will settle for anything under 3 hours drive from the bay area. Any condition reports for areas...

Check this out. Snake on trail. Gopher snake would not move. All of a sudden it went into a gopher hole. Out pops a field mouse.... Field mouse saved by an Otter... Feather steelies still out there in June Fish are hitting the Cherry Bomb and various caddis patterns.

I guess I'll be the first to post about the Putah Creek Trout fish-out this past Saturday. I've been working way too much so far in 2011. It was only my fourth day of fishing this year, so I was really looking forward to it, regardless of flows. The Lower Yuba was running very high, somewhere around 6...
Well it has not been as good as some other years, but the fish are still out there. The golden brown poopah and the red brassie seem to always bring in a few fish. There is some guy out there that swears by that new fly the "two bit hooker". Tons of small black midges as well.
Took a little drive today to see if there are any fish in the area. Found a little chrome steelie before it started "snowing" at sea level. It was worth the drive... My first wild fish on this hatchery water. By the way the fish took Emerger's Cherry Bomb! Once hooked the fish exploded o...

Looking for something to slap on a new musky rod. It's going on a 9 weight, but I would prefer a 7/8 reel to minimize weight. Thanks. bhelsten@gmail.com
Hit the creek from about 4:45pm-6:45pm. Flows are getting up to their summer numbers. Water is not as clear as I thought it should be. Hooked up a big brute but couldn't land him. Story of the afternoon is beware of snakes! Saw one crossing the road, looked like a 4-5 foot rattler couldn't get a poss...
With all of the high water about our rivers, I decided it would be a good time to head into the American River basin, below snow level for some creek fishing. Three of us headed off for El Dorado Creek, a trib to the Middle Fork American. Past fishing here has been outstanding. Lots os fish and decent siz...
As I continue to watch stream flows that hover around the Dow Jones index on most rivers, cabin fever has set in. I'm sure the Feather Low Flow is OK, but crowds gotta be big. So, I took my son-in-law up to the Lower Sac with Ryan Johnston a week ago Friday. It was his second time fly fishing and first time...
There is a hatch of Little Yellow Stones on the creek. Most enter the main creek from feeder creeks... It is one of the few times during the year you can actually get fish to hit a pretty big dry fly on Putah . There is also a pretty good hatch of caddis in the riffles. Here is a link to the little yellow st...
