Hi guys. I would love your help finding a Sage reel I dropped in the parking lot of the first turn out with bathrooms. I lost it February 5h around 10am. It’s a five weight with a rio line. I appreciate The help. 775 813 1910 thanks!
2017-2018 Spawn is in full swing! Please consider not fishing the creek until after it's over. The fish you catch now will have less success in producing the next generation of trophy fish. Lactic acid is toxic to egg viability. This is a small and delicate fishery that has been through a rough few year...
Putah Creek Trout is seeking reports of spawning activity observed on the creek. Paired trout, chasing, cutting of redds... etc. We would like to better identify spawning habitat for future work. Send your reports to: sk60@putahcreektrout.org Thank You! -- Edited by drdan on Tuesday 14th of N...
whilst lobbing nymphs yesterday on the Yuba, I waded on out and hucked my little 5x to 6x rig to the middle of the riffle where it was immediately engulfed by the largest trout I have ever seen. I'll put it in the 30" range (A disclaimer; at 62 years old I have no need to lie about this stuff). in the 5 to 10 seco...
If you tie your own you can make stuff that works sooooooo much better. imo the creek you don’t really cast. Get down from the butt as quick as possible and make a long section of flexible line like 8 lb. So much easier to get a good drift and also sinks way faster with less weight. Modern round bobber indic...
Anyone who has been tying for a while has probably developed some tying ideas that help him out on the stream. Here are some ideas that I believe have helped me at Putah: - Use bead head flies. Many flies can be tied either with or without a bead. Almost always I prefer the beaded version (preferably a tung...
I have to assume that this rain is going to open the mouth of the Russian and bring some steelhead into the system. Has anybody driven by the mouth or seen what the river looks like? It's that time of the year when I start to get nervous sitting around the house waiting to get out and give them a try.
Went to the creek today without the fly rod. Took the wife and introduced PC to my 1 yr old daughter instead. Picked up two garbage bags full of trash. Saw maybe 3 redds today. Walked around rattlesnake island and access 3. Not sure where the fish are spawning or if numbers of breeders have dropped consid...
Would love to find a good home for my grandfather's desk and all of his fly tying equipment. Comes as a package: Magnification light, fly tying vice, thread, yarn, hackle, various animal hair, etc. Dimensions: 62 by 26 by 57 tall. The desk is in El Cerrito and must have a truck or trailer for hau...

I'm looking for some one to go hike the yuba or feather for steelhead. Or maybe the truckee but I'm not familiar with it so would be a learning/exploreing trip. Was thinking weekend after thanksgiving. Hit me with a message.
Hows it going guys, new to the forum. Been fishing putah for years just wondering if anyone has been out lately and had any luck. Is the creek fishable right now with current flows?? lowest ive seen in some time. Thanks, Dan
Trout Unlimited and Orvis are challenging the fly-fishing community to contribute to local conservation and enhancement through the Embrace-A-Stream program. The John Muir Chapter of TU has already been awarded $8000 toward projects on Putah Creek. This grant can be increased dramatically...
I've seen a number of posts on this thread referring to a November / December spawn on Putah Creek. My understanding is that generally rainbows spawn in the late winter or spring. Is this different on the Creek? I certainly don't want to fish over spawning fish. Thanks.
I was wondering if any of you guys have been there and have any input. I am going to be near bishop just below the pleasant valley reservoir in the wild trout section. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've been tightlining a lot lately and I'm not sure if the waters are conducive to that style? And ju...
Hi everyone, Was fishing last Friday one pullout below the resort and found an Orvis Helios 2 with a Galvan reel lying in the gravel. I fished all evening (fish were biting pretty well!) and the rod was still there when I got back to my car after dusk. I debated leaving it there but would hate for it to be sto...
I do a lot of sniffing around different boards looking at "old" posts for info. Here is a little snippet from 2009 regarding knots. I never really give my line much thought while out on the water but found this very applicable. I can certainly reflect back on breaking off snags or fish and finding my l...
It appears someone closed the faucet yesterday... A 170-cfs change seems drastic for a smaller drainage. I know flows drop during the fall/winter months for a variety of reasons. But this fast? From archival research a change of 100-cfs in a 24-hour period seems normal. I imagine fishing is go...
Hey guys, En Route to Paso tomorrow from Sacramento figured I would travel a fair bit off the beaten path and see if I could find some new trout water. Anyone have any suggestions for fishing the Merced or anything in that Western region of Yosemite? I planned on driving down the 99 and head East. Any...
Didnt see another thread for a dedicated Lost & Found section so figured I'd start one. I lost my drivers license at putah today. my best guess would be in access 1 in the back corner near the port-a-john where we got set up. I usually take it out of my wallet to put in my waders incase F&G ever asks...
