Sad to say that's the biggest fish I've landed this season on the creek. Thought it was a brown for a second when reeling it in Anyone else caught carp out of putah?

What is it? Sucker? Whatever it is I've caught one identical in a deep hole on Russian river a few summers back, thought they were carp.

That's a sucker! Not what you wanted but I'm sure it gave you a fight. Miss fishing for these when I lived in AZ.

Thanks for confirming. It did peel of some line but tired quickly, not quite as exciting as a putah rainbow. Definitely more fun than a pikeminnow

I think that's a Sacramento Sucker. Did it eat a fly or did you snag it?

If you wanna get into carp float solano. There’s some giants that hang out in a pod below the boat dock.

It had my zebra midge stuck just under its sucker mouth

That's a Sacramento Sucker, native fish in the creek. Very likely it took your fly.

As a kid up in Mendo County, we used to fish for those on the Russian. There was an older black gentleman who used to pay us 25 cents for each one we gave him. That was back when candy bars were a nickel. Should have gotten his recipe.

these are found in Washington where we call them White Fish

White fish don’t have a sucker for a mouth and they’re chrome.
