Hi, As I was bushwacking on the highway side of the creek upstream of Access 1, I dropped a section just above the handle section of my fly rod. It's dark blue and has the stripping guide and one snake guide on it. "905" is hand painted on it. If you find it, there's a Berryessa Brewing pint for you and invalu...
Originally posted November 12, 2014-It's that time of year again: big fish are starting to move around in preparation for their annual ritual. Some sites already have fish and redds. Winter flows appear in place at 135 CFS already because of the drought. Hopefully, they will not drop below 100 CFS ov...
ive been collecting a lot of flies out of trees on the Creek. You just need to know where to look and you can get lots of free flies. Yesterday I found about 30 in various spots. 3 of them had pinched barbs. Police yourself and do the right thing.
On an 18 shell back green caddis! Wadda Rush! I need a bigger net! sorry if this should be under rants and raves. I've been trying to catch a carp in Vietnam on the fly. Are there any carp fly fisherman that might have any advice? Locals in Hanoi here use 12 foot long bamboo rods with a handspool of heavy mono; they attach a heavy sinker to a hook with some type of bait, a...
All: In early March this year a heavy rain storm cell sat over the badly burned Cold Canyon/Wildhorse Canyon watershed for several hours, dumping inches of rain onto the steep canyon slopes, and heavily eroding the burned ground. The result was a sudden high pulse of mud and water roaring down Cold C...
We need your help in adding gravel to the spawning area at the top of the resort. In order to accomplish this we will need at least 60 people to help get the gravel to the creek. Hi fellow fly fishermen (and women), would someone please tell me where the private water section of the resort extends to? Is it clearly marked? Thank you. -- Edited by Greybeard on Thursday 6th of October 2016 02:12:19 PM
I was fishing this weekend near the bridge and noticed a white blob moving upstream and realized it was a fish. I tried my best and gave it some really good drifts without any success. Just wondering if any of you have caught that trout? I am so curious to see what was going on with it.
For unknown reasons flows were dropped in a few hours overnight to 55 cfs. Fishing is likely to be terrible until they are brought back up. Expect Winter flow levels (75-100 cfs) to be the norm within 2 weeks.
Hi Everyone! I've been fishing/learning Putah Creek for the last year or so. Yesterday was my personal best. From dawn to dusk I hooked about 15 in the 6-12" range. Half of those I got in the net. About 5:30 I tied into my biggest Putah Rainbow yet (see pic). What a beautiful fish to end an absolutely...

Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and it doesn't look like many people are posting here anymore but I thought I'd try. I am looking to meet some fly fishing people to carpool with or just meet up with. I fish all over norcal. I'd consider myself intermediate. I'm 31, male I work nights so I fish putah duri...
Hello, just curious if any of you will be fishing this weekend knowing that rain is in the forecast? Do you think it'll be enough rain to blow out the creek? Cheers
So, I fished Tuesday and Friday this week and caught a bunch of bows each day between 6-14" fairly consistently on similar patterns. Toward the end of the day Friday, I used a slightly different pattern after losing my "good" flies, (within like 5 casts I lost 4 flies - I'm an idiot) and I landed 2 of the n...
went out last week, didn't get much but i found this monster crawfish, it was so big it was about 8 inches in length was wondering if any of you have had any success fishing crawfish patterns?

My buddy and I decide to make a quick trip to PC last weekend. We got on the water around 4:00. Started around access #3 and quickly picked up a few small (12") bows on midges and micro mays. As it started getting towards dusk we started seeing fish heads popping. I didn't take the time to put on a tapered lea...
Well the Chronicle just did a full page love story by Tom Stienestra on Putah creek. Book your reservation now for a 2-3 P.M. slot in early October on access 2. Sorry, the other access points are booked for the year...

Thanks to the 21!!!! volunteers who donated their time and effort to this year's stream cleanup of the inter-dam reach/ fishing access. Multiple bags of trash and recyclables were removed. One washing machine, 1/4 of a truck with 3 tires and at least a 1/4 mile of wire were removed. Special shout...
Put my rod on top of my car at the parking lot just past the bridge. Came home and realized it was gone. Any chance someone found it and picked it up? I drove back and it wasn't in the parking lot. Thank you.
Finally caught a few on the challenging Putah! 3 landed, 2-3 others on but lost, one was probably the biggest I've ever had on. Huge thanks to a guys I've seen out there the last few days who have given a newbie some great tips: Sun, Jim, Richard, guy in blue shirt. Love the Putah Creek fly fishing communit...
