Has anybody noticed that the flow has been at 700 or more CFS for days now? Surely that will help a little bit to get the mud out.

No New Posts Are these your indicators? (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 0 1018

I found these whilst wandering around the creek last Saturday. They are of such high quality and the smaller one is obviously a prized antique so I though that one of you old timers, or maybe a guide lost them. Shoot me a p- mail and I'll get them back to you.    -- Edited by mudhen on Friday 10th of February 2...

No New Posts Yet another clueless goober  ( 1 2 ) (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 35 3234

Does anybody know this guy? I drove up and there he was, sitting on the bank and stressing out some poor TAILHOOKED fish by letting it sit in the current until he could get it in. The kid who wet wades and uses that is old bamboo rod said that he had already talked to him so I didn't see the point in engagement a...

No New Posts bad news for man made gravel areas (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 14 2000

the newly constructed gravel spawning bed that myself and a lot of others created is now completely covered with about 2-3 feet of mud. No New Posts Curing Shrimp for steelhead (Preview) Other Rivers, Streams and Lakes 7 2144

I want to cure a batch of shrimp for steelhead. (called coon shrimp) It's difficult to find whole small shrimp in the SF bay area to use. I've been thinking of using grass shrimp. They are easy enough to get with a small gage trap and a little bait. Has anyone tried curing them for steelhead? If so what was t...

No New Posts Size 20 Hooks (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 16 1963

I caught over a dozen fish last Thursday. None on my size 16/18 Hare's Ear or PTN, all on my size 20 midges. Of all the fish caught, mostly small to medium size, I was able to bring only two to hand; the rest were "self-release" at some point after the hook-up with the hook still on my line. I don't mind so muc...

No New Posts Anyone fishing the Napa River (Preview) Other Rivers, Streams and Lakes 3 3026

With the spawn happening on Putah some of us have been fishing the Napa for stripers. It's been pretty good but can be hit and miss depending on the day and time. A boat, even a 12' with a small outboard makes getting to the fish a whole lot easier than fishing from shore. You don't need to run far so anything...

No New Posts Yuba River Fishing (Preview) Other Rivers, Streams and Lakes 10 2499

With Putah Creek fishing tapering off to let the spawners do their job undisturbed, I plan to fish the Lower Yuba  whenever weather permits. The Yuba is a challenging river but when trout are in the mood, it can be a lot of fun. I usually fish upstream of the Hwy 20 bridge and start with nymphs. If fish i...

Very windy and pretty chilly today. Casting was a challenge but fish were in a good mood. No New Posts Salmon or just massive trout? (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 1 1126

I grew up in San Francisco, CA and never fished Putah Creek. I'm back for Thanksgiving and decided to give it a shot this morning.
