No New Posts Really? (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 13 2088

I caught a fish yesterday for maybe the third time. He came in really fast and I realized that I knew this guy. I let him loose as fast as I could ( thank Hod for barbless hooks ) , but it left me with a hollow feeling. I don't mind annoying the trout, but I'm not into abuse. Have any of you encountered the same si...

No New Posts Measure C ? (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 4 1481

I've read the language of it but most of it seems insignificant vs the amendments made since 1968. Besides most winery owners say early nineties was too late to put in vineyard  /winery on a slope.

But it would be really be nice to have a plac...

No New Posts Live bait and other Putah fishing techniques (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 15 3186

I snagged 2 lines yesterday.  First, was about 50 feet of nylon/mono/fluoro.  I'm not sure what it was attached to as I had to break it off.  But, 50 feet worth?  What the heck is someone doing?  Anyway, next was at least 100 feet of braided line I think, almost like a dacron backing.  This was attached to...

No New Posts Do you find this rude? (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 6 1759

Personally, I love helping a nearby angler get a picture with their catch.  A recent experience left me wondering if some folks might find it intrusive to ask them to stop fishing and come take a shot of a quality fish. It honestly hadn't occurred to me as I am happy to take a minute to help out.   How do you...

No New Posts Cicadas at Putah Creek? (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 2 1526

I was fishing the deer sign access yesterday afternoon and a Cicada landed on my friend's pack. Is this a normal thing at Putah? I've never seen one here before and wonder if the strong wind gusts blew him in from somewhere.. Got me thinking if I should tie up some foam cicadas lol..  In other news, fishin...

I thought this rod was a couple years older.  I found the paperwork while packing boxes in preparation for the move to Michigan. It has been my go to rod from Eagle lake, Pit, Lower Sac, Feather, Yuba, Putah, etc etc.  I've never owned a really fast tapered rod and this one is far from it.  I just like them s...

No New Posts Tree across the trail (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 4 1642

Went to the bridge this afternoon and fished the turn and then was walking down to below staircase rapid. There is a big tree down across the trail that is blocking it completely. No New Posts Cold weather gloves (Preview) Equipment and Product Reviews 0 2353

Late last year I basically cut the end of my left middle finger off and had it sewn back on.   For the most part, it is pretty numb but cold air does wake it up in a not so good way.   I suppose this would be a perfect question for steelhead fishermen, what gloves do you prefer?

No New Posts 2017-2018 Spawn is in full swing - let them be if you care about the fishery (Preview) Putah Creek Fly Fishing 10 2662

2017-2018 Spawn is in full swing! Please consider not fishing the creek until after it's over. The fish you catch now will have less success in producing the next generation of trophy fish. Lactic acid is toxic to egg viability. This is a small and delicate fishery that has been through a rough few year...
