No New Posts Striper Fishing Part 2 (Preview)
Went back out to look for stripers...  Don't know where they were.  Caught a few funny looking trout?  Silver trout I think.  They fight much better than brownies and rainbows.

Four of us did a two boat drift on the Yuba last Friday.  The weather was perfect!!!  We had a blast once again.  It gives me an opportunity to get together with one of my old college roomates for a day.  We found a good watering hole/ sports bar in Yuba City called The Happy Viking.  It is highly recomended...

No New Posts Yuba report 4/18 (Preview)
A couple of months ago, I sent in a postcard and entered the lottery for an opportunity to fish on the UC property at the Lower Yuba.  I somehow got all 4 days I asked for on this great opportunity.  April 18th was my first day to enjoy on the property. Word was that fishing had slowed down on the river and thi...

No New Posts Striper Fishing on the American (Preview)
Went striper fishing with the former PCT leader.  Gary caught this mystery fish!  I was just having a hard time casting my 9wt with a sinking tip.  Gary says it is easier to catch the shad in a few weeks.  I can't wait for the shad.

I have taken on the job of organizing this year's Woodland Cub Scout Pack 499 Fishing Derby on Sunday, April 25th. I am hoping that some of you can help me come up with a location to take 20-30 youngsters out and catch some fish (species don't matter).  This location would have to be within an hour of Woodl...

No New Posts The Yuba gives it up! ( 1 2 ) (Preview)
The lure of the Lower Yuba got me again.  I made an early morning decision to head up to the Lower Yuba on Friday.  The flows were over 2300, Deer Creek was at 119 CFS, meaing the Lower Yuba was probably muddy.  There  was a chance of rain. I decided the hell with it, I had to run up.  Worst that could happen w...

No New Posts Finally, a weekend filled with fishing. (Preview)
Starting with TODAY. Friday the 19th. A tailwater near the town of clements surprised me with over 30 fish between me and my brother. Most fishes were 6-12 inchers. I had 2 that were 16 inches or so. No measure net. All I gotta say is, that place is burning hot right now. Strike wise, and tempurature wise....

No New Posts Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show (Preview)
I guess this doesn't really fit anywhere, certainly not here . . . but did anyone else recognize how sparse the vendor attendance was at The Fly Fishing Show this year?  Two years ago, there were 2 exhibit halls, this year only one.  Sage, Orvis, WInston, Powell, Ross and I think even Simms and Patagoni...

No New Posts Truckee River this time of year? (Preview)
I  might be in Tahoe City this weekend and the budget isn't happy enough to rent skis or buy lift tickets.  Would the Truckee be worth fishing this time of year?  If not, then I might hit the Yuba or the American.  I know my way around the Truckee during the summer but have never tried winter fly fishing...

I fish the upper reaches of the North Fork of the American river two weekends ago. I had fished the area at Christmas but a lot has changed since then, entire trees hav...

Is there one single rule in the state as far as the high water mark goes.  Funny I should probably know this but mostly fish public water.  Most places you have to be below the high water mark.  Some spots I have heard it's the median water mark.  I am more specifically asking about the Russian.  Found som...

No New Posts Lower Yuba 2/12 report (Preview)
A couple of us went up to the Yuba on Friday.  Once again, a little rain kept many of the fair weather fans off of the river. Nonetheless, we decided to head upriver away from any crowds.  We worked our way up from the bridge, trying all kinds of rigs.  No bugs were coming off in the morning, no fish were ris...

No New Posts Lower Yuba 2/13 Report (Preview)
Hit the Yuba today with 3 buddies. We went down stream instead of fighting the crowds above the bridge. We got the the Bridge around 8:00 and I pulled into the North side just to see how many cars were there, surprisingly only 4. Crossed the bridge and headed down about a mile. Started with skwala stone ny...
