Arrived at the river around 10 am. Super low flow, but good clarity. Saw a bunch of fish working one seam and fished it most of the day. No takes on any nymphs. Threw just about the whole box at 'em, mainly size 18-20 midges etc. Finally around 2 pm, a good PMD hatch came off and fish were rising all over. Threw all the tiny dries at 'em on 6X tippet with nothing. Finally, a huge carpenter ant lands on my arm so I tie one on, size 12 I think. First cast, fish charges it and bails at the last second. A couple more casts, fish on. Nice rainbow. Shortly thereafter, fish weren't rising any more so I decided to call it a day on a good note.
I would bet the farm that fishing on the LT is extremely technical with low, clear flows. It might be enough to drive a person to an early sitting at the Blue Coyote. I think i saw where the flows where like 40 CFS???? Looks like a beautiful Brownie.
Yeah, was super technical. Was actually a rainbow. Colors got messed up because as I took that picture with the self-timer on my camera, and the only place to put it was in the gravel shooting straight up at the bright sky.
