No New Posts Bead or no bead (Preview)
Do you guys have more success fishing with beads or no beads on your flies? I personally like the wd-40 and pheasant tail no bead.

No New Posts Wading belts (Preview)
I have seen 5 people over the past three days wading with no wading belt on . In each instance I have warned the person that in water like this if you fall in you will DIE. While I fully understand that we are free to do as we wish regarding personal safety, the dad in me insists that I at least say something. I r...

No New Posts Fishing Report May 25 (Preview)
A chilly and windy day at access #5. Wind blew relentlessly all morning and early afternoon. I did manage to catch 3 fish on small nymphs (the usual 18 to 20 size nymphs) and one fish swinging a wet fly, one of my favorite methods to fish for trout. It was a smallish fish, quickly in and back in the water, but...

No New Posts Regular bugs working again? (Preview)
I fished #3 for only about 90 mins yesterday.  I tried some bigger stuff just for fun.  Nothing.  Then, switched to the regular tiny stuff and caught 1 little guy, but that's it. Anything unusual working for you guys?

Hoping to make it out tomorrow. Got a new Tenkara rod to try out, Iwana 12.  Any advice on where to go? What to avoid?    Really looking forward to just getting in the water and being outside for a bit.

No New Posts Fishing Report April 26 (Preview)
Went this morning for about three hours after being off the water for over 4 months. Fished the stretch of water from access 4 along the foot path down to the island, and the first three or four hundred yards of the island. It is possible to still cross the river to the island even at 800 cfs. Only very sh...

No New Posts Spey Casting and report (Preview)
I saw somebody spey casting yesterday right above the fork at #5... Is that ever a good method for PC?? I wonder if that person had success. On another note, a man I was fishing with caught this young fish (still had parr marks) even with the high flow. Get out there! I was surprised by how chunky the fish wa...

Did anyone find a fly rod let on the creek . The only thing I can say to describe it is I remember rigging up one of my Rods for high sticking with red abnisia , not sure which one but I defiantly had one rigged, And now no rod rigged up for high sticking and I dont remember removing the Abnisia so I can only assum...

No New Posts Streamers (Preview)
I was fishing out in bolinas this morning in the lagoon and caught three lincod on streamers. I had a blast feeling the fish attack the big flies. Has anyone ever fished Putah with streamers or tube flies? I feel it could be an effective technique at the large pool below monticello. I have personally nev...

No New Posts fishing report (Preview)
I fished Putah Creek Wed. 4/5)2017. Caught two beauties (20 and 22 in.) in a hole on the private waters ( I am a member). The key was a long, 12 foot, leader, light 6x tippet, no indicator, and #5 splitshot 18 in   up from fly (a #12 beaded birds nest). Only leader in the water, high stick or Czech techniques....

No New Posts Summer Flows Approaching (Preview)
Looking at the annual flow chart, mid-April is when summer high flows start. It appears that we will be transitioning from this winter's high flow right into summer high flow. I will miss the easy 100-200 cfs waters.

Little motivation for you all. Nice little 20" from today. They didn't all get washed away with the weeds and trees.

No New Posts Flows (Preview)
When will the creek be fishable once more? I looked at the USGS graph and estimated by the end of the month the flows should be below 1000 cfs. I was looking to fish below monticello on Monday, however.

No New Posts 3/4 creek report (Preview)
Put on my wading boots and went down to the water to have a look. Water was at about 2500cfs but the trails were passable. Where the creek turns towards the back of the island at .5 there is a large deposit of debris and the ground at the turn has a lot of debris abd has pretty much been denuded of the blackberr...

No New Posts 2/28 creek report (Preview)
Well, it's down  to about 3500cfs, but is still a torrent. Deer sign is off the hook and the beaver dam down from from access 5, she is gone. As well , the small side stream that went behind the dammed area and spilled back into the front channel is GONE. Bare a trickle. And perhaps most importantly, there i...

No New Posts New to the Sacramento area (Preview)
Hey guys Just relocated the family to Sacramento and am dying to wet a line this week.  Obviously with the heavy amounts of rainfall I'd assume the options are limited.  I have been working in the area for the past few years in which I've been able to fish a few of the local waterways: Yuba, Putah, and Amer...

Has anybody noticed that the flow has been at 700 or more CFS for days now? Surely that will help a little bit to get the mud out.

I found these whilst wandering around the creek last Saturday. They are of such high quality and the smaller one is obviously a prized antique so I though that one of you old timers, or maybe a guide lost them. Shoot me a p- mail and I'll get them back to you.    -- Edited by mudhen on Friday 10th of February 2...
