No New Posts Hidden Dangers in the Creek (Preview)
So I hiked into the guide hole and found a broad head arrow in the water stuck in the moss . I fished it out and stuck it in a root clump on the way home I relized it could end back in the water and injure someone so today I hiked back in and retrived it. So-- the takeaway is- use caution when you're wading- you don...

No New Posts Change to the fishing regulations for Lake Solano (Preview)
March 1st Lake Solano became a catch and release water, barbless artificials only, year around. The reg was changed (paragraph 180.6) to remove the  the interpretation of the loose language of paragraph 147 "from Solano Lake". Hopefully, this change will help bring back the lake fishery before it...

No New Posts 4/16 fishing report (Preview)
Spent 4 hours down below the bridge. The water was way higher  than from 2weeks ago and not muddy but full of particulate matter. And the fishing sucked. Nada, zip, only one strike. But it WAS a beautiful morning.  -- Edited by mudhen on Saturday 16th of April 2016 05:06:59 PM

No New Posts This is what can happen when you fish for spawners (Preview)
Below are pictures of one of the two 21" adult spawners found dead along the creek bank on Friday. They were found near a major redd area. The one pictured had appeared to have been foul hooked behind the right gill with the line wrapped around both sides of the upper jaw like a bridle and had worn gro...

No New Posts PC first time (Preview)
I live over in Sonoma County but I usually fish the Lower Sac from a drift boat.  Im trying to get on some new water and try some wading.  Ive never fished Putah before and just wanted to know if there is access on the west/south side of the river.  It kinda seems from the map that I can get there from the Lake...

No New Posts 4/3/16 fishing report (Preview)
People from all over the map all converging on access 4 and 5 flogging the water to a froth. Mud all over the place down by the bridge and a pale colored bottom on the tailouts   that the fish don't like because they stand out in contrast. And a fresh vibrant crop of poison oak on the trail to the rock garden...

No New Posts 4/5 FISHING REPORT (Preview)
The water in the run at access 4 is very cold when the bank crumbles away as you are walking down to the creek and you, get pitched ass over teakettle into the water. And wet too! Note to self.; extra clothes in car.

Went out today with my son to check out the creek.  It's still very stained with limited visibility. We only fished a couple of hours. One to hand caught by my son. It was a great day.

No New Posts Quicksand. Okay, mud. Really deep mud (Preview)
if you fish the run downstream of the spawning area at no. 3, out where the stream opens up, beware of really really deep mud deposits right off of the bank. I went up to my thigh quickly and I know there was more down there

No New Posts Any reports? (Preview)
Now that the spawn is winding down, has anyone been fishing? Any reports? I hope to get a day or two on the creek this week, but am concerned that the rain and after-effects from the fire have turned the water into chocolate milk.

No New Posts drop shotting (Preview)
Seeing as to how I believe that drop shot rigging would be a great nymphing technique, I looked at the Cal. regs. regarding use of weight; sec.2.10 subsection 2 states that "It is unlawful to use any hook which is directly or indirectly attached closer than 18 inches to any weight exceeding 1/2 o...

No New Posts The Spawn is on, come back in March. (Preview)
As my subject line said, The spawn is on throughout the creek. Its time to give the creek a break and comeback in March. No need to put more stress on the fish. Lets all be adults and do the right thing and give these fish their time to do their thing. If you do feel the need to be a winter time puddle pitcher jus...

No New Posts shallow (Preview)
On Saturday, I paddled from the bridge up to the culvert on the back side of the island for some exercise and deflower my kayak.  I haven't floated any stretch of Lake Solano in years but never remembered it to be that shallow.  The majority of it was 3' or less.  I did find one short stretch pushing 4 feet o...
