And I’m driving my WIFE nuts by being home all of the time. Where can a man with no boat go fishing?  I’m not choosy either.

the water is over 10,000cfs, and RISING! Upper Putah is flowing into the lake at  10,500cfs and the glory hole is covered by at least three feet of water. The pictures give you an idea of what it looks like. This in MUCH more water than in 2017. I feel sorry for any critters who couldn’t swim or fly.

No New Posts Glory Hole re-activation (Preview)
Looking at the water level for Lake Berryessa and as of 08:00 this morning it is within six inches of overflowing. With the heavy rains predicted for today it sure looks as if we are going to see the Glory Hole kick in and another big surge coming down the creek.

No New Posts The creek is full of mud again. (Preview)
Well, the creek is full of mud from the last couple of big storms , BUT, the gloryhole is only three feet from the top and they are predicting a possible return of the atmospheric river that hammered us last week. If that happens it is very possible that the hole will spill over for the second time in three y...

No New Posts The creek is blown out (Preview)
Spent yesterday (Jan. 22nd) out at the creek. Hadn't been there since Jan. 3rd and what a difference in water clarity. The color is mocha brown with 9-10 inch visibility and areas where there was a gravel bottom are coated in a layer of boot sucking mud up to 6 inches deep.  Looking at the water data, on Ja...

No New Posts Help Identifying a Fisherman on Putah (Preview)
Hi everyone, I was taking some fly fishing pictures on the creek last November 9 and got some nice shots of a guy fishing there.  I am interested in entering one in a photo contest but need a release for the person in the shot.  I was hoping that he is a regular that follows this site or perhaps one of you know...

No New Posts swingin (Preview)
I know certain guides and anglers have been really successful swinging flies at putah. Not expecting any hand holding since I know many like to keep their putah tricks to themselves but curious if there are any tips or techniques related to swinging/stripping bigger flies at putah.

No New Posts Early Spawning Activity (Preview)
FYI, I’ve observed early activity with fish showing signs of spawning. Not just staging signs but actively playing chase and paired up. If you see fish doing big swirls or paired up in shallow water, move along to other spots.

All: Yolo County Parks and Rec are soliciting comment on the possible imposition of day use fees for use of the fishing accesses that they manage and maintain. No New Posts Euro Nymphing PC (Preview)
I have been researching the technique, but I am still not sure if I should give it a shot. The rod I will be using is a 9‘ 5 weight and I am concerned I won’t be able to effectively cover water that is too far away to reach. Also, with the fast, deep runs, I am afraid the only way to get my fly down is with a big heavy...

No New Posts A thank you to some anglers (Preview)
When I was seven or eight years old, my parents planned a family trip to Yellowstone National Park. Already a fishing nut by then, I quickly found out that fly fishing was the way to catch trout there. I needed a fly rod to use on the trip. I begged my mother all summer long for something, anything. Eventua...

Get to the creek at 5: 30, suit up and head on down. By 7;30 , the 1'st person showed up. By 9:00, there were two guys fishing across from me. By 10:00 there were the two guys across from me, one directly above me, three down about a hundred yards and three up in the first pool with more headed down from the park...

No New Posts Putah nymphing rig tips (Preview)
My last 2 trips have come up short, and I need some help/tips. I fished a 9ft 4x tapered leader and put on my first fly(wolly bugger or large nymph for weight). I put 2-3 small split shots above the first fly. I tied 12 inches of 5x to the bend of the hook and tied on a 2nd very small fly (wd 40, PT, etc). I used a wh...

What flows do you all like to fish on Putah?  Personally, I prefer it when the flows are a bit higher - closer to 500 CFS.

No New Posts First time on the creek in over a month (Preview)
There's a lot more water!  Fished pretty hard today - landed one decent fish, one baby par, and lost 1 small guy - so generally unsuccessful.  But, it was awesome to be back on the water!  I've been too busy to fish lately and it sure is nice to get back out.  Hope some of you had more success than me today!

No New Posts Viable Flows? (Preview)
Hey Forum Folks! I am a newcomer to this discussion, as I have finally begun making visits to Putah with some measured success. I'm just curious... what's the CFS zone for "ideal fishing" on the creek, and when does it reach "utterly un-fishable?" I see that the current flow is pushing 680, but I don't k...

I’m pretty sure that river etiquette is that when someone is tying up their rig while standing in front of a hole that you’re not supposed to show up, step up to that exact water and begin fishing that hole. Thanks,Kevin Even after suggesting that I was just planning on hitting that water, these two pol...

Anybody care to chime in on how the fishing has been the last couple of days? Are the Flows at their summer level yet? I looked at the charts but those things can be quite unreliable.
