Well, the creek is full of mud from the last couple of big storms , BUT, the gloryhole is only three feet from the top and they are predicting a possible return of the atmospheric river that hammered us last week. If that happens it is very possible that the hole will spill over for the second time in three years. Do any of you old timers know if that has happened before?
About 25 or 30 years ago the glory hole overflowed and flooded the creek. I went up to fish a few weeks after wards and the islands and brush around the river was torn to shreds. Wasn't doing much when a friend and I noticed dead fish, carp, up in the branches of the trees above our heads. Maggots were dropping into the river. I found one fly with a lot of white in it and tied it on. Got a lot of fish during what I now call "the maggot hatch."
It’s gonna go over again. While I fear for the fry and the young of year trout, it will blow out the mud. Maybe we could appeal to Cal trout to address the feeder creeks and the mud. I would volunteer for that in a minute.
