What flows do you all like to fish on Putah?  Personally, I prefer it when the flows are a bit higher - closer to 500 CFS.

750cfs. Yeah, that's it! Let's all agree on 750.

I would agree with 500 and above is def preferred. I'm not a fan of pitching flies into a puddle. To each their own tho. Good luck out there and keep those lines tight! Peace.

Depends on where you want to fish. More of the stream is accessible under 300, but I like the larger riffles and swifter water at 400+.

The flows have been changing daily. Watch out on a hot day as the Water district may increase flows without warning. Next week the temps appear to be going down. Any consistent flow is good, but for fall 400 CFS is about best. Four AAA are needed in spots. A big fish is usually just one more AAA away... Or a big snag! size 24 midges are ruling!

As I have mentioned many times before I don't fish the creek that much any more due to a bad left foot.  However, when I did fish the creek a lot, I used to keep a fishing journal in which I always recorded the flow.  After keeping the journal for a while, I learned that certain locations were productive at a certain range of flows.  Thus, if I were planning a trip, I would look up the current flow; this would give me an idea of where to concentrate my efforts.  I could avoid the historically unproductive areas and concentrate on the productive areas.  I realize this took some effort on my part to keep the journal but after I started keeping the journal, I actually wished that I had started keeping it years sooner.  As a side benefit, the journal helped me to relive my many wonderful trips to the creek.
