No New Posts Truckee Tease (Preview)
I fished the Truckee with a friend on Sat, Sun, and by myself for a few hours today.  My friend had never fly fished before this trip so it was kind of a stretch bringing him to the Truckee as a newbie but he picked up nymphing admirably, although he did lose like half my fly box!!  On saturday we started by ny...

No New Posts LOWER SAC MARCH 3RD... (Preview)
Fished the Lower Sac with a couple good friends yesterday. Landed 20 for 25 average bows with the largest being about an 18" buck. Also earned the GRANDSLAM of the Sac with a rainbow, squaw, and sucker. I kept my chin up and washed that polecat smell off. And won a free dinner! JW

No New Posts Lower Yuba 2/29 report (Preview)
Well, I figured since we had an extra day with leap year, might as well spend it fishing.  Headed up to the Lower Yuba early in the morning as I had to make it back to Oracle Arena for the Warrior game Friday night. Conditions were great, perfect weather.  Started nymphing with skwalas in the morning and w...

No New Posts Yuba River 3/2/08 (Preview)
Made it out to the Yuba Sunday for a much anticipated fishing trip.  Fished with a good buddy in from London.  We started below the 20 bridge and fished up stream for several miles. Early on looked to be a good day, despite the wind storm buffeting us.  My buddy hooked up with a nice 20 inch bow in the first h...

No New Posts Stanislaus Below Tulloch (Preview)
Fished the Stanislaus for a few hours on Saturday.  To my surprise there was a big hatch of flyfishers.  A fly fishing club from Livermore was having a field trip.  They were all friendly and courteous, but I have never seen so many people up there.  One woman from the club I talked to landed four fish w...

This should make for some great fishing this summer and into fall. I know i'm planning my trips now. Will be a bit of a late start this year but theres gonna be plenty o...

No New Posts RIP Russian (Preview)
If anyone reads this on Sat morning and are fairly close to the Russian I would get out there before this storm really hits.  It's 10 now and you may be able to go for a few hours.  We're pretty much finished after this.  We may have a couple weeks in March but it's done after this.

I am going to Bend in mid March and am looking for guide recommendations.  I am thinking about fishing the Fall or Crooked River.  The Deschutes will still be closed and the Metolius does not allow guides.  I do plan on fishing the Metolius for a day.   I appreciate any information. Thanks, TK

Fished the Yuba for the first time ever yesterday.  One word to describe it...unprepared!  Got out there at 7:00 around the Hallwood area.  Location was the first mistake.  Big, fast, open water not too appealing.  Fished there till around noon and didn't see a soul around...should have gotten t...

No New Posts DF & G OUT & ABOUT ON THE AR (Preview)
We drifted the American last Friday, and it was a gourgeous day.  I landed what has to be the smallest steelhead for the season on the river, a whopping 4" steelhead.  I was amazed that it actaully sank my Boles Float Right when it took the nymph.  For those interested, it took a size 16 beadhead pri...

Been visiting a lot of new waters now that I moved to Chico. Living in Roseville I was attached to the Truckee and Little Truckee to the point it was where I fished regularly. Good times it was. Fished with a guide from below lake Camanche to the town of Clements just above Lodi.   We hooked up with 15+ fish.   Most 1/2 pounders, but three wild adults. If you find the right hole, you can take out lots of fish.   We probably took 8 from one hole we stopped at and fished from shore.  No fish under 15&...
